Apart from forcing a movr through to city, if skrtel was so comitted, surely he would of put some effort into improving his unbelievably blantant and terrible defensive style during his 8 and a half years here?

Players may give it all on the pitch but training and self improvement is where it counts. Humility is priceless.

Sorry but I don't see how being disrespectful to players who have given us 8 yrs service helps. Yes he may have been limited but he did a job for us and for that I for one a grateful and wish him well. Slating a player as he leaves says more about the fan than the player in my opinion.

If Skrtel should have been putting some effort into improving his performances, do you not think you should put some effort into improving your written English?
Just saying likes.

{Ed041's Note - shouldn't you be putting more effort into be more polite to people you speak too? Maybe English is not his first language?

What a daft statement Woolback. Surely it was up to the numerous managers to not play him if he wasnt good enough. Obviously 320 plus matches in 8 and a bit seasons say he put effort in. Why didn't any of these managers get rid of him and buy someone else? If you are looking for someone to blame now you know where to look.

I agree poolie. Great servant for the club. I'm not a fan of bashing ex players either, it was never the Liverpool way.

Our coaches coached him and managers picked him and didn't sell him. He was offered new contracts. People with better football brains than most on here made these calls.

@poolie, couldn't agree more. Let's no bash players as they leave, there's really no need at all.

It says more about many fans who slag him off every week but kiss his backside as soon as he leaves.

His 8 and a half years would have been much shorter if he had his way and forced his way out, but we didn't let him (for some reason) .

I don't wish the man any harm, good luck to him, but any player who plays for 8 and a half years and remains so oblivious to the damage and irritation he causes to fans and his colleagues with his constant mistakes cannot be considered a legend in my eyes.

WoolBack it's only natural that fans judge players when they play. I'm not and never have been his biggest fan but that does not mean I don't appreciate the eight years he gave to the red shirt of lfc mate. There's a difference between opinion on a player and disrespect.

Ed041 : Considering some of the replies I've seen from some of you Eds in the last week, effing and blinding at people then I think my post is rather restrained. Also looking at his username, and his second post I strongly suspect that he is in fact English. Take into account that he's slating a player who gave us 100% commitment despite his varying performance levels and I'd say I'm not too far out of line.

{Ed001's Note - he made a couple of typos and you jumped on it like a saddo. For all you know he might have dyslexia. Disagree with his point all you like, but don't have the cheek to bring what we say into it, when you do not have to deal with what we have to each day on here. You are responsible for your own actions.}

His/ her couple of mistakes were simple typos by pressing the letter beside the one he meant 2 press. Anyway we all knew exactly what he was trying 2 say. Btw this is s rumours and banter site, not a forum 4 perfect grammar.

I'm getting a bit sick of reading some of the things on this site. We are not doing ourselves proud lads/ lasses.

If the media spent some time to read this site, I think our label of "greatest fans" may be rethought. We are lucky that this is based on the famous Anfield atmosphere and not some of the whinging and backstabbing that appears from a minority of keyboard warriors about current and former players and infighting with ourselves.

Let's stick together, support the club and look forward to a new season ahead.

This site is amazing for its insights and gauging others points of view, be it supportive or with constructive criticism. We will all have different opinions, it would be a very boring world if so, but let's do it in a respectful manner.

Sorry for the rant (I've turned into one of those warriors) .
