One of United's biggest mistakes was giving so much time to Sakho. He's got this reputation for for being uncomfortable on the ball but he's anything but.
Yes he looks ungainly but he's a great passer and very direct.
Most of our attacks last night started from him.

That's not what lost us the game mate.
I don't understand this mentality of trying to find the players that affected the game the least and trying to find a way of giving them credit.

Fact is your midfielders smashed ours to high heaven and your forwards gave us a lesson. Is that not enough?

Your defence had a very easy night which is the sad thing.

{Ed001's Note - Sakho was excellent, if he had not passed the ball out well, then we would not have dominated as we did. It is about giving credit where it is due.}

i don't think he was anything special mate. but the sad truth is he didn't have to be. your CM out fought ours.

I know stats are completely subjective but sakho made more passes than any United player, if that's not affecting the game, what is?

Sakho's passing ability really does split opinion. It's either calamitous or he's seen as a great passer, seems to be no in between.

I work with a couple of arsenal fans who are very much in the calamitous camp and often bring up his frailties in possession and generally don't rate him at all. I can recall many times he has misplaced passes and given cause for concern. Then some days he is incredible in the air and he's an absolute rock, most fans seem to really like him. But he does try to ping hollywood balls to often for me and don't really come off.

So, is he brilliant or a donkey? Be interested to try and gauge opinion further! Thoughts?

Sakho looks ungainly but is actually good on the ball for a centre back and an excellent passer.

Their biggest blunder was to partner Fellaini with Schnider which opened up their midfield and let Liverpool to dominate. Herrera should have started alongside Schnider. They lost the battle there. The first meaningful cross came in the 85th min inspire of having the Belgium.
Poor.

Sakho looks to get the ball moving forwards 9 times out of 10, that's why he's so effective.

I think Sahko needs a bit more credit where it is due. He defended well and passed well.

he runs and moves gangly which makes him look more shaky than not! yes he misplaces a pass here or there. But it happens in football. I think he's more assured than people think in general. Every defender gives you those moment where you think don't mess it up!

That's my point harry, we lost key battles but the sakho one was not one because we put him under no pressure.

The attacking players smashed us give them the credit.

A good defense is an under worked one like Thursday.

Lol do people even read my post or just click disagree because I support utd?

So come on them who disagrees with my notion your CM beat ours?

Those who beat up on Sahko have no idea about football. He is a beast at winning the ball cleanly and switching defence to attack in one pass. He is one of the best ball playing CB's in the PL, hands down and an able replacement in that dept. for Agger. If you allow Sahko to bring the ball out into midfield with no pressure, he will destroy you as we saw Thursday.

ctr i would suggest ignoring the agrees and disagrees number on this site, people just seem to disagree on everything lately.

while we had won the midfield battle, we still needed to carve and create chances in order to score, which often times when we are in control, we don't do that and subsequently concede from a set piece.

and sakho played a part in that as he has done on multiple occasions to be fair. it wasnt him alone yes, but he definitely played a part in it.

I agree Redman, Fellaini was a massive mistake, he won the game for you a few games back where he dominated in the air, but with Hendo/ Can playing deeper midfield he didn't dominate physically and we managed to keep the ball on the ground more and give him the runaround.

Once that possession was achieved though, the effectiveness of our CBs at dictating play shouldn't be underestimated and Sakho did a great job finding the weak spots in Uniteds defensive setup.
