I would like to know if anyone is thinking about the way Clyne hits a wall everyone he goes forward. It's so frustrating to see. Bring back flanno.

I said in the summer that Clyne wasn't better than Glen Johnson. He certainly tries harder but in terms of ability he isn't even close.

We would've been better served holding on to Wisdom in all honesty. He is better in possession. I just don't rate Clyne. He doesn't time his forward runs well enough and he can't cross for toffee.

Duno whether he's injured or not but it'd be nice if McLaughlin got a chance. Now there's a full back who can do damage going forward.

Also, I think it's more a case of when Brad Smith displaces Moreno at left back than if. He was poor yesterday and Smith showed he can cross a ball better than any of the first team players the other night.

He's on loan at Aberdee.

Simply putting in a cross doesn't make you a good fullback. He's picked wrong passes when going forward or crossed to no one when an option was on because he hasn't lifted his head, Moreno does this well. I'll say again judging 100 minutes of play altogether in a compeition where we're already through and playing a bore draw with the other team to go through and being 5-1 up at Southampton are not good games to measure ability.

I'll agree maybe plop him in a few premier league game when seeing it out, but right now even in those games, I saw nothing that made him stand out as better than Moreno positionally, defensively, passing choice etc. Maybe in time.

I don't rate him personally, He is one of those player who looks good in camera. Runs from one end to the other, See an opposition player. Stop it there and pass back to Skrtel. that's his normal routine. He doesn't overlapp nor hit the byline. He doesn't beat a man and we are not going to score a goal from his cross. He is one reason Skrtel touches the ball more than any other player.

I'm not basing it on 100 minutes. I'm basing it on the few thousand minutes I've seen him play in the youth sides. I'm not saying he's better than Moreno right now, but I think as the season wears on he will surpass him. That's just my opinion though.

Shame Rodgers sent McLaughlin off on his holidays though. Didn't realise it was a full season loan.

I'd just like to say, it's not that easy for Clyne, Milner, Lallana, Moreno or indeed Flanno to cross a ball to a statue surrounded by 4 or 5 defenders.
We don't move the ball quickly enough out to these wide players when the opposition is stretched, we faff about with it in the middle doing 2 yard sideways passes whilst their defence reorganises.
Our movement of the ball is frighteningly slow. You've got to move the ball forward quicker and with purpose. We have too many midfielders choking the ball up in the middle of the park. It's so easy to defend against us.

EMS I agree in part with the Glen Johnson/Nathaniel Clyne comparison and GJ being the better player but I would have liked Andre Wisdom kept to play at CB. AW has power, tactical ability and would learn even more playing next to a more experienced partner i. e., Kolo Toure in cup games and training. I rate AW a lot more highly than Tiago Ilori and next season he will hopefully finally get his chance with us. Regarding the right back situation with Jon Flanagan nearing full fitness I believe he will be first choice come May but NC should be used against teams who like to play higher up the pitch as we lack pace in our midfield on the whole.

He's not the best attacking but he's defensively sound and been one of our most consistent players this season. He overlaps still and provides the needed width but with Moreno we already have an attacking fullback and we don't necessarily need two.

If you say so EMS you must have watched roughly an entire 3 seasons worth of reserve football with him in then, time well spent.

Got to have my piece here,
People saying they'd have GJ back astound me, technical skill means nothing if you aren't prepared to use it.
Johnson was lazy, overpaid and in terrible form, hardly pulled up any trees for Stoke, nor has Wisdom for the baggies.
I'd rather give Clyne a fair shout then cry for past players who were sold for a reason.
I do rate Wisdom, I really do, but I don't think he's as good as Clyne. Potential to be better, sure. Better now? No.

I believe that Flanagan is back in training. We'll have to wait and see how he looks after a serious injury but I'm still optimistic we're looking at our right back for the next decade.

Absolutely Bang on Ron. One reason I was annoyed with Rodgers as we never moved the ball quick enough to our wide players.
We spend hours in our own territory passing to each other and by the time we set up a cross west brom had 5 players marking Benteke.
Swap benteke with any striker in the world and we would face the same issue.

Clyn is much better than Johnson I mean defensively he has been pretty solid. Unfortunately fullbacks need to contribute at both ends of the pitch and in this way Clyne has struggled. Bad crosses, poor passes (particularly a bad range of passing and lack of vision) have meant that his contributions when we have possession have been poor. However, he is far superior to Johnson who, I have to say, must be one of the most idle players I've ever seen. Agree with giving Flannagan a chance as well though - he has quite rounded game and, though his crossing ain't up to much, his passing and distribution is very underrated. Competition for places can only be a positive.

As for Moreno his concentration is bad and he bottles challenges which annoys me no end. He is good (when concentrating) defensively though and offers good movement and ability going forward - Smith has not done enough to come close to ousting him yet but give it time, as with the right back position it's good to have options and competition, it will keep the players sharp.
