Hi Ed001, as always you're the man!

Quick question, what is your assessment on utilising Henderson, Milner and Can in central defensive midfield?

{Ed001's Note - none of them are really suited to defensive midfield, though I would have hopes that a good defensive coach could turn Can into a defensive midfielder. It would just need a lot of work on his positional sense and his mentality to stop him allowing himself to be bullied.}

Ed I think can is slow across the first few yards and he needs to improve that . He seems to have composure and most of everything else

Red Rum, that is going to do wonders for the confidence of Henderson. I can't think at this moment of a player who had the captaincy stripped from him, and he became a better player for it. If Henderson is the future, then we need to bolster his confidence, not destroy it. I agree we need to keep Lucas but making him captain? I think not

All Emre Can needs is a run of games in midfield, start him off at DM with the right defensive coaching and he could become a juggernaut in a few years time.

Can has to much to add to the team when going forward. Sticking him as a defensive player is just a complete waste

i would love Lucas to stay but part of me wants him to move on as hate seeing him mistreated and sat like a lemon on the bench and when he gets on he seems to rarely get the praise for his contribution

Then we keep Lucas and play Can further forward hence, benching Allen who adds very little to the team. Makes the Kovacic signing a waste of funds, don't you think?

{Ed001's Note - I agree and disagree, Kovacic is a class above what we have, I really like him as a player, but we did need to spend the money elsewhere. He is a very good replacement for Gerrard in the role Rodgers had been trying to shoehorn him into. If we had a good manager to help teach him defensive positioning etc, then he might be turned into an excellent Xabi Alonso type holding midfielder. Sadly we have Rodgers, so it is a worry.}

If we play midfield setup as below then I'll be really happy with either the first or second choice in any position (plus Llalana can play midfield too) and I think buying Kovacic makes sense.

If we can also then also sell Allen on for GBP10mln+ and use the funds to bring in a good RB/LB then it's a dream outcome for me.

Sterling should be sold for GBP40mln to fund a top striker to back up Sturridge (preferably one that can also play out wide if required) or swapped for Walcott + cash then we're all set for next season and think we should have a realistic chance of top 4 so long as the team is coached properly.

That's my dream.
