So what is everyone's opinion on BR now that he wants to reward Johnson with a new contract. A footballing mastermind or further proof he has lost the plot.
Guys I do try and cheer on everyone but BR makes it so difficult for me to trust him anymore, Gerrard wrecked and Lallana on the bench, his replacement for Sakho sitting on the bench when Sakho gets injured and he brings on that Johnson, never buying a proven striker knowing Suarez was going and Sturridge is made of glass, and don't even mention the youth players and the Lucas fiasco, I really despair and in my eyes I don't see anything positive he has done this season, and he can never ever complain he wasn't given the money to put his title challenging team in place.

Eds, does BR handle the contracts?

{Ed001's Note - nope.}

My apologies Ed and other fans, I thought BR would have to make the decision on whether he wants to offer Johnson a new contract, I didn't realise this was not his remit.
Can I ask Ed who has made the decision to offer GJ the new contract?

{Ed001's Note - Rodgers makes recommendations to the board. They can choose to act on it or not. Ian Ayre is the main negotiator in contract discussions.}

Eds, would the club be offering GJ a contract if BR was of the opinion he did not have a future as a first team player?

{Ed001's Note - no, the manager would have to recommend it.}

Theres still no way Johnson signs without the approval of Rodgers though, right?

{Ed001's Note - correct.}

I think the most troubling thing (on top of your points McGoveb) is that BR seems incapable of righting the many wrongs. He either does not see the glaring issues or just doesn't know how to adapt. It doesn't bode well for his future here or instilling any confidence that he can perform his job successfully. Expecting that he will eventually "get it" is frustrating to say the least and at this point it's probably fair to say that he's reached his limit.

Giving GJ a new contract is another piece of mismanagement to be added to his repetoire of blunders. Also, just learned from from ED01 in an earlier thread, that BR had the pick of the lot of strikers that he could have chosen from like Remy and Bony (who would not have cost that much in wages and that Swansea were willing to sell, according to the Ed01) YET BR said NO to all of them and oversaw Balo`s arrival. Now, he is trashing the boy and basically set him up to fail. So with this revelation, we can tell that BR constantly saying that Balo was not his choice is a bold-faced LIE BUT I guess his apologists will still make excuses for him, tho. To me and I like BR as a coach (you don`t terrorize the whole PL last season if you are a slouch) BUT his numerous blunders and issues can no longer be ignored and IMO, FSG will act this summer.

Sorry eds is it true now that the club have actually gone back with a proposal. Reports say a three year deal and if so does he want to stay, is he looking for a big pay day in the summer or is he considering his options. If we have offered him a contract I presume it's on reduced terms but just wanted to know if we have bowed to his wage demands, or him to our demands or somewhere in between

{Ed001's Note - a contract offer has been discussed with his agent, on much reduced terms. As far as I can find out that is all that has happened so far. Not a formal offer, yet. Worrying that it has got that far at all.}
