I eds who apart from us has an interest in lazios Felipe Anderson and where do you see him ending up. Super player quite similar to ibe sterling but he has an end product all the time. Also during the lazio inter game the commentator described kovacic as a luxury player. Good player but defo not what's needed.

Lbw

{Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid have approached Lazio about taking Filipe Anderson as a replacement for Arda Turan. Manchester City have a declared interest whilst many clubs including Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have had him watched recently. Lazio have offered him a new contract which he will in my view agree to.}

Hi ed01 just wondering with begovic not signing a new contract is there still interest in him and might he have changed his mind with regards joining us

Lbw

{Ed002's Note - Not from Liverpool.}

Hi ed01 can I ask if you have any information about what will happen with the managerial merry go round come the summer. From what I can gather city will be looking for a new boss ourselves and utd depending on who misses out on cl could be looking at a change. Is arsene likely to stay on for another season. Ancelloti looks like he could lose his job. Enrique at barca looked like he was a goner earlier in season. What's going to happen at psg. Is guardiola to remain at bayern. Simeone signed a new deal today so I presume he's staying and will klopp stay or go. I know you can't possibly answer all of this but just your opinion and who's looking at who

Lbw

{Ed001's Note - City are already looking, Ancelotti being one possibility, Klopp and Simeone are others they would like. There is also the Juve manager, whose name has totally slipped my mind, who is of interest. Pep would be the one they really wanted above all others though, it is just unlikely to happen this summer.
Wenger is set to stay as things stand.
Madrid are already searching for Ancelotti's replacement.
Enrique has figured out how to work with Messi, it is unlikely he will be going anywhere right now.
No idea what is going to happen with PSG, United were interested in taking Blanc, but getting in the top 4 will probably be enough for LVG to keep his job.
Guardiola right now seems set for one more year at Bayern.
Simeone is happy to stay but will consider offers.}

Think the juve manager is massimillano allegri

Hi ed01 reading through a lot of the posts and debate on rogers and his future. My question is have you heard Amymore about the reviews the club is conducting regarding the football side. We seem to get lost in the fact that all is fine because our form has improved but I know you still expect changes. Has there been any approaches made or will advice still be sought. I also feel that if rogers is told to work under a dof or lose his job that he may be inclined to accept now as let's face it he won't get a better job at least not at the moment anyway. I think a lot of it has to do with how it's portrayed in the media. I mean the dof generally works away in the background and would rarely deal with the media so as far as they were concerned rogers would still be main man and club would put a positive spin on it. It is very rarely reported that mourinho works under a dof at chelsea. Thoughts ed01 please

Lbw

{Ed001's Note - they are still undergoing the review, I haven't heard anything recently but I will chase up some info and see what the feeling is now. I still expect the club to turn to a DoF though, it seems the logical approach as the club has already made steps towards it with the transfers being taken out of Brendan's hands.}

1.) 22 Feb 2015 14:44:57
Any idea as to how many players Brendan actually signed? Rumours would suggest that quite a few signings were out of Brendan's hands.

Thanks

{Ed001's Note - none of the signings were out of his hands, he had right of veto, as he did when Remy was set to join.}

Hi ed01 I notice a sense of hopelessness from your replies today saying nobody would want the job. I have to ask considering rogers position has been up for discussion as early as last November and changes coming above br as well according to the eds. Surely with so long reviewing and taking advice now it should be straight forward for the club to now implement what they want to do across the board. If they have not a plan on the changes to make at this stage then we are well and truly sunk. The only name which we had heard the club had considered was de boer surely there are some others in there thinking. Thought please ed

Lbw

{Ed001's Note - should be straight forward and it should be decisive. Sadly there is little sign of decisiveness in the running of the club, otherwise we would not have transfers decided by committee and a review needed to decide on what changes to make. That is a major part of our problem, we don't have one Roman-type figure running the club making decisions.}

1.) 24 May 2015 21:08:10
Glad season is over , let's see what happens , I'm gutted but Rogers did give us some good moments let's not forget that, thanks to the eds, it can only get better and thanks to Steve Gerrard , good luck to whoever leaves with him.

2.) 24 May 2015 21:13:31
Would agree with that- it's the downside of having an investment group with 21 different investors, none of whom own more than 50%. Near as I can tell, FSG is pretty dysfunctional itself, no headquarters/global office or items of that sort and the overall reporting structure is a bit nebulous with the exception of Henry being top. Gordon seemingly interfaces with Ayre quite a lot, but he also still has his hands in the Red Sox a bit as well, including discussion around whether to sign Moncada, as an example. If there were a single owner I do think things would be run much more efficiently, albeit that wouldn't necessarily mean better.

{Ed001's Note - I do agree that it is a risk, but a benign dictatorship is the most efficient method of control. Sadly dictatorships are mainly malign, see Hull City and Newcastle United and Cardiff City for examples of that.}

3.) 25 May 2015 06:40:14
Abramovic is an example of a benign one is he not ed? To a certain extent you could say city too and perhaps Berlusconi in years gone by though he did enjoy taking credit for everything.

{Ed001's Note - for Chelsea Roman certainly has been a benign dictator, Berlusconi at times, and yes Mansour at City so far.}

19 May 2015 20:49:23
Hi ed01 if your around I know your prob getting bombarded with similar type questions but if you had a moment to give your gut feel into what management changes you see happening This summer. My gut feeling is we are stuck with Brenda for a while longer asit seems there is no leads or anything coming out of the club so close to the end of the season. We know the club are conducting a top to bottom review and we were told as early as November that tis included rogers position. 6 months on and it's the only area of the club where changes haven't been made. Ed2 is saying that the owners are taking advice and how they won't be swayed by one result and because of the review it may rule klopp out but my point is that it's been 6 months of advice and come next Monday he should be gone

Lbw

{Ed001's Note - I can't see what reasonable intelligent person could possibly think, if they had access to behind the scenes information, that Rodgers should still be in a job. If nothing else his tactical failings, so badly exposed in Europe, should see him receive his marching orders. I don't understand why it has taken so long. When he failed to understand what Basel were doing after the first game against them, and still failed to figure out during the second match, needing to sit down and analyse it afterwards, that should have seen him booted out immediately. No half decent, let alone top quality, manager should need more than 30 minutes of a game to figure out what the opposition are doing. So my gut feelings says he has to be gone, even if it is way too late and shows a lack of decisiveness that is coming to characterise FSG's time at Liverpool. Too many committees and not enough action.}

1.) 19 May 2015 23:25:07
If they do a six month review with his position under scrutiny and come out with announcements that BR will be kept, that would be a severe waste of time and six months we will never get back. They should have cut bait back then or simply say they would keep him and do nothing. What I can't understand is that with the Red Sox, the owners don't play and act decisively YET with LFC, they dither and form committees that don't accomplish a thing (see TC). At another big club, they would have already had his replacement on deck like Utd did with LVG.

2.) 19 May 2015 23:26:46
If that was true noone would lose! Its one thing identified how to stop a system but then actually stopping it!

And all the managers who faced in the pomp pep Barcelona only one actually found a way to really stop them without parking the bus an praying you don't concede (even tho that is a method) but bielsa your man eds was the one who found.a system to stop them and pep "copied" it when Bayern played Barcelona!

The above doesn't make the others managers bad does it?

And how long did it take other teams to figure us.out when we adopted the same system? We got figured out but not for something like 13 games, and considering it should be 30 mins and then your sacked! We should have got 13 managers sacked!

3.) 20 May 2015 02:20:02
Do you think FSG will appoint a committee to conduct a review of how the top to bottom review went? I appreciate sound business, but if an employee isn't performing well enough, and in fact costing you money and embarrassing the business, you get rid of them asap.

4.) 20 May 2015 04:24:58
What?

5.) 20 May 2015 06:36:10
The owners love baseball, it's their passion.
LFC is not, they knew nothing about football when they bought us. Hence the difference in their actions. With LFC they need advisors and committees and do everything remotely, with the Red Sox it's completely the opposite.

6.) 20 May 2015 07:59:48
They need committees to deal with committees and have meetings about meetings about meetings.

7.) 20 May 2015 09:17:23
Austin, I am assuming that the 13 games you are referring to is our unbeaten run this season? Did you actually watch the performances during that run? I am guessing not, as while we were collecting the results during the unbeaten run, majority of the performances were pretty rubbish, nothing different from the whole season. Bar a few wonder strikes here and there during the run, it would have ended much sooner than the 13 games it went for.

8.) 20 May 2015 10:52:32
Brisbane my point wasnt that we were winning but more that it took 13 games to properly figure us out, and prior to that ed had said that if a manager can't figure out the system and react to In 30 mins they should be sacked so I pointed out that 13 mangers should of lost there.jobs because they.didn't figure.us our in 30mins.

I can see your very anti rodgers which is fine but read through posts properly before you post back.to them :)

9.) 21 May 2015 09:22:39
If you twist people's words enough you can really make them have said anything can't you?? The ed said with Liverpool against Basel. it wasn't like Accrington Stanley against Barcelona. we had the quality on the pitch that night regardless of the manager to win both of those so the players take some blame too. but clearly the eds main point was saying over 180 minutes against that opposition given the circumstances we were in the performances were not acceptable. and again have some context it is not like every other game we are blowing teams away or even playing well. I think I have been truly satisfied with a performance 3 times this season.

{Ed001's Note - lfc18, if you think it took 13 games for teams to figure us out, then you need your eyes tested! We had been figured out long before and scraped results due to some stunning strikes from distance. Look at the Swansea game, for instance, they had us in all sorts of trouble, just lacked the quality to put it in the back of the net.}

08 May 2015 21:22:45
Hi ed01 was vey interested in hearing your views on son. Was just wondering though do you not think we are over stacked in this position. From what I can gather he plays in a similar position to ibe sterling lallana markovic coutinho teixeira and academy wise brannigan ojo Kent Wilson Dunn. I figured we really need a central striker who can carry the main goal scoring burden. Can the lad do this or is he better in the supporting role. Your opinions would be appreciated

Lbw

{Ed001's Note - Son is a goalscorer mate, something we have none of. Similar position, but a completely different type of player from what we have. Son is someone we should have gone for last summer (if not sooner), as he is what we are missing. He can play multiple positions, but what he always adds is goals. Not sure he can carry the main goal scoring burden, I don't think any team should rely mainly on one player ever, no matter how good they are. That is why Barca added Suarez to score goals as well as Messi. You have to present the opposition with difficulties in who to worry about. At the moment we have no real goalscorers other than Sturridge. Don't get me wrong Coutinho etc can add a few goals, but they are not scoring enough, they need another option ahead of them to create the space for them to work in.}

1.) 09 May 2015 11:24:43
The question of course is how do we bring him without making the other big teams jump immidiatly and say if Liverpool want him so we want him too. Honestly I don't remember such a transfer window (which officially hasn't even started!) in which evey half serious name that is mentioned everyone seemed interested in him - and we are not talking here about Messi and Ronaldo - just Beneteke and a 35 years old Pirlo for God's sake.

Would be nice if there was at least some mechanism that when we start our interest in someone will check with the other top teams if they are seriously interested (say call to Chelsea to check if they are interested in Benteke or Pirlo) so we can back off to save the time and embarassment of arguing we weren't interested.

{Ed002's Note - Other teams have zero interest in players Liverpool are following. You seem to be intent on making it looks like other clubs care about the players Liverpool are buying and the world revolves around Liverpool. They don't and it doesn't.}

2.) 09 May 2015 12:14:04
Ed001, I agree, would have loved us to get Son when he left Hamburg for Leverkusen, he has only gotten better since then. Would love to have him here. I don't know if you remember or not, but did we look at him when he left Hamburg? i'm sure I read something like that, but he wanted to stay in Germany from memory. I think he is an excellent player.

{Ed002's Note - Ed001 is not around but a number of clubs have sustained interest in Bayer Leverkusen's Heung Min Son. Liverpool, Spurs and CSKA Moscow have all had representation at games in recent weeks and are maintaining an interest, or in the case of Liverpool rekindling it as an alternative to Vietto.}

3.) 09 May 2015 14:23:19
Lol Fanobip thinks the big clubs wait to see who Liverpool target and then beat them too it. Are you for real!? I've seen people saying it about Depay for example yet we have been linked with him for 12 months and more. Total rubbish pal

4.) 09 May 2015 16:14:57
Other clubs don`t care what we do and we should not care what they did as well. If Son is as good as the Ed says he is then we should get him and or Vietto because we need goals from all over the field and that should be our focus this transfer window. Players like benteke are not consistent enuff and seem to play when they feel like it and is a sicknote like Studge. WE NEED GOALS!

08 May 2015 21:47:46
I just have a horrible feeling regarding the upcoming transfer window. The feeling being despite been told there is a review going on can't help thinking the same mistakes will be made. Last year I heard br tell us we needed signings to strengthen the first eleven then proceeded to sign 10 players of which none are now nailed on starters. Now he's talking about a couple of marquee signings and yet because of the players we will sell and release I can see another 7 or 8 signing coming. I would love begovic kondogbia or parejo for mid and vietto or higuain for striker. That would get us top four and allow us to strengthen other areas the following season while allowing younger players gain some experience. What will happen and I don't mean to trash potential signings we will sign neto Montoya Milner ntep ings gameiro benteke and none will be regulars. Btw I like some of those players but some are not suited like bent eke and we seem to think we can fix the squad every year in one window. Opinions particularly ed01 would be great. Sorry one final point with a comitee I am sure everyone on it has a preferred target and will always lead to more signings than needed with not everyone in agreement

Lbw

1.) 08 May 2015 22:34:55
We have been making the same mistakes for years, before fsg came along, so there is zero reason to think anything will change now.

Que the dislikes from the let's be positive crew! Lol

2.) 09 May 2015 00:36:12
Those positive people spoil everything hay Mario, its enough to make the most pessimistic page positive at times, no good to anyone that mate.

3.) 09 May 2015 00:47:12
I would not pay too much attention to the drivel and self serving doublespeak he spouts in the media because he signs players he says he wants and when they don't work or are badly used, he trashes them in the media in a bid to absorb himself of blame. We know we have a very capable squad coached by a politician who plays the manager role on TV alone. Don't get too down on yourself because if BR is sacked, we will be able to plan with hopefully the right manager who can bring some energy and structure to this team. Stay optimistic!

4.) 09 May 2015 03:34:22
Ohio, give it a rest mate. We are well aware of you're feelings towards Rodgers. You're starting to sound like a broken record.

Red Rum

5.) 09 May 2015 05:10:03
You asked for the dislikes mario. Bjt on another note. Why is everyone so beaten? It's been a frustrating season and everyone wnats rodgers to go obviously. All is not doom amd gloom we got a young squad with talent amd potential in the youth setup. Add a decent striker and we're good fot top4. #Stayoptimistic

6.) 09 May 2015 09:26:40
Spot on Reet, we have a lot of young players who are capable of playing at a high level as their developments grow.

7.) 09 May 2015 09:39:54
Not everyone wants Rodgers to go and not everyone is beaten

8.) 09 May 2015 16:25:32
Right on Reet! We have a good squad and we can compete with anyone on our day even if those days are coming fewer and further between. We need the changes made an d abelief we are moving forward BUT IMO, FSG will do what is necessary to make us competitive again. They just need to do it their way because afterall, they own the club.

Rum, I will post whatever I feel like posting regardless of what you think is a broken record or not. All I did was state my opinion on where some of our troubles lie and BR is right at the center of it. If you don`t agree, prove me wrong or disagree or keep it moving because you have no right to tell anyone what they can and can`t say. Good day!

9.) 09 May 2015 20:14:42
We still need someone who can actually strike a football. we don't have a player in the team who from 20 yards or in pretty much anywhere on the pitch that really looks like scoring. only glimpses on occasion. And then you have to ask bar a striker because that is obvious maybe replacing sterling with another proven goal threat (son has been mentioned I have liked him for a long time) would be a improvement also. because it's no good having 5 players all looking to create chances for each other with no one able to actually put the ball in the net

20 Apr 2015 18:33:39
Hi ed01 just wondering what in your thinking would constitute a perfect summer for the club. For me a monchi/klopp appointment followed by Leno khedeira and vietto to go with the squad we have perhaps Milner for experience and release gerrard toure Johnson. Sell skrtel Enrique Coates borini balo lambert Allen aspas alberto. And renew contracts for ibe sterling hendo and flan no. Like I said perfect summer just wanted your thoughts on what you would like for the club.

Lbw

{Ed001's Note - no such thing as a perfect summer, we will not be playing so how can it be perfect? I just want the right men appointed to take the club forward, nothing else really matters.}

1.) 21 Apr 2015 07:49:50
What if that man is Roy Hodgson?

2.) 21 Apr 2015 08:28:03
that man is not roy hodgson

3.) 21 Apr 2015 14:38:20
With Ed on this one. The right people need to be appointed to help us because IMO, we are not that far away. we just need better management (from top to bottom), a clear vision and strategy as well as better use and investment in our academy. we already have a very good core of firt teamers. all we need is 3 top players to come into he first team and plug our glaring needs (goals, defensive shape and so on)

Hi Ed002 sorry if this has already been answered but can you explain who was the other player inter were prioritising. How far up there list of priorities is Lucas at the moment. Have chelsea real interest in icardi and what's the meltdown situation At psg with the uraguayans and Rabiot

Lbw

{Ed002's Note - Most of this is nothing to do with Liverpool - but (a) Susic, (b) they would like a deal but I am not sure any real list exists, (c) Yes, certainly, (d) I am not going to go in to that here.}

Structure of the club? Well surely this was part of the review for the past 8 months which the owners should now be in a position to put right

Sorry eds is it true now that the club have actually gone back with a proposal. Reports say a three year deal and if so does he want to stay, is he looking for a big pay day in the summer or is he considering his options. If we have offered him a contract I presume it's on reduced terms but just wanted to know if we have bowed to his wage demands, or him to our demands or somewhere in between

Lbw

{Ed001's Note - a contract offer has been discussed with his agent, on much reduced terms. As far as I can find out that is all that has happened so far. Not a formal offer, yet. Worrying that it has got that far at all.}
