I know the Newcastle match has been talked about a lot but just want to say what an absolute tactical masterclass this match was by Klopp and his team. This match was a prime example of why Klopp is the best pound for pound manager in the world and we are lucky to have him. Anyone even suggesting Klopp should go after witnessing this game either doesn't know about football or is just trolling, the man is a genius.

It was a great win and Klopp certainly got the subs correct. But I think you’re fooling yourself if you think we weren’t second best even prior to the sending off. They bulldozed through our midfield with so much ease. I’m in shock other players have not been brought in to supplement the squad. Klopp is the man but he needs the tools.

The ten men tactics were fine but the eleven men tactics were not. The team started awfully again.

So the result shouldn’t mask the issues that have been plaguing us either.

Praise where it’s due and criticism where it’s needed.

Loosing one nil backs against the wall getting battered we score on the break! Tactics? We got out of jail.

Sorry, The ScouseHouse, must have missed that masterclass from Klopp. Not really sure how what happened equals a Klopp " Masterclass"

Spot on lads, in absolutely no way was the match exciting or enjoyable.

In people’s rush to provide their expert analysis, tactical breakdown and critique of both individual’s and the team’s collective performance highlighting perceived failings they seem to be missing the fun in watching a game and enjoying the game for what it is. Sad really.

I’d probably thank Eddie Howe as well because his substitutions were just as important in winning us the game ?.

Agree with that Wassa.
Would add that Newcastle were toothless and that's is a big reason why we got away with 3 points. The amount of times they over hit diagonals or misplaced passes when they had a chance to mount a dangerous attack was crazy.
After the yellow card trent was pretty much free reign for Gordon and even joelinton to go at. They both put a few balls dangerous balls across the box to no avail. I think we battled hard with 10 men and the subs made a massive impact for us but Eddie Howe, Newcastles blunders and Alissons worldie save were more reason for the victory than 'Klopps masterclass'.

What I liked was that we were happy to keep it at 1-0 until the last ten, fifteen minutes. By that stage Newcastle would have been happy with 1-0 and we rope-a-doped them.
We were patient and knew that we didn't have to do anything at half time. We let them have the ball, punch themselves out and then brought on Jota, Nunez and Elliott late on and they started to get their players going the other way.

So, basically style and tactics are far more important than winning a game, with one man less for the majority of the game. Okay. Noted. ?.

Why do people bother watching the game if they get no pleasure or enjoyment out of it?
Never get my head round that one.

Its only a masterclass when Mourinho or Carlo do the same thing?.

ArAy, I think the tactics helped us win the game. I thought we'd had it at half time and would have been delighted with a draw. But we didn't need to score early in the second half and risk conceding another goal or two.

Flash, it's not always pleasurable watching us but I'd always sooner watch us than not watch us. The thing with football is that things can always change very quickly and I wouldn't want to miss that.
At half time in Istanbul, one of my mates was talking about going home but I told him no. I will risk losing five or six nil because there is always a chance that we could win a game like that and I wouldn't want to miss it.

Hats off to Klopp and the players. They had their backs to the wall and we came away with a win on what was an emotional game to watch.

The players who started defended very well and worked their socks off.

I think a special mention goes to Gomez, Jota and Nunez who all came off the bench and changed the game in our favour for me. Elliot and the young Centre half also did well.

Now you're cooking, @Redwillis1. I slightly disagree with one thing, tho respectfully. It was Klopp's tactically masterclass which made Allisson's save count even more, for sure. Newcastle not knowing what to do was mainly as a result of Klopp's tactical nous on the day and credit the players who executed the plan perfectly so let's give the guy his flowers. Apart from that, I fully agree with you.

Newcastle got shook after the red card and had no idea what to do nor how to do it. Sure we set up well to shut them down but their lack of imagination in the attack ruined them. They are used to going back and forth with pace and energy but once you take that away from them, they have the deer in headlights look when they play.

People in the media keep saying they had "tons of chances" BUT I have no idea where these chances came from cos after their goal, there was the AB1 worldie, Almiron hit the post and I think that was it re clear cut chances. There was a lot of running but nothing came out of it. I could be wrong. IMO, Klopp ran a clinic tactically (not for the first nor 15th time, btw) while the boys showed commitment, desire, know-how and patience. Hats off to all involved.

Klopp played a blinder and taught Howe and by extension, his loud mouth assistant how it's done out here in these streets. As for the opening 20 mins, I thought at the beginning of the game, both teams were going at it forcefully with high energy so there were a lot of passes going astray and openings were happening in both defences in transition esp. in the wide areas so for me, it was a wash.

Also, keep in mind that it was the very first time the midfield 3 of Endo, Macca and Szobo played together and with the way Newcastle like to play esp. at home where they want to impose their physicality, it was always going to be tricky at the start.

All that being said, they created next to next to nothing (almost same with us hence, a wash) and could not really open us up despite all their high energy and running at least up until the goal which was an individual error. Just my take.
