The owners need to dig deep. If they’re serious about Liverpool getting back to competing for trophies they need to back Klopp with hard cash. The blow of missing out on Champions League riches won’t pass as an excuse for not addressing the squad’s weaknesses. ” James Pearce.

Nice to see the journalist voicing against the board and FSG. A good bunch of these clowns used to regularly blow them! Now they realize the task in hand. This wasn’t the case if Newcastle wasn’t bought by the Arabs.

Hard cash as in notes and coins? I reckon our rivals would prefer bank transfer. A dump truck full of 70 million Pound coins might result in Brighton refusing to deal with us. Silly James Pearce.

We don’t need to spend loads, we just need the right players. Quality players can be found cheaply. This is where the scouts earn their money. Also decision makers need to be brave and take a chance on the cheaper alternatives that have been identified.
Costly players have as much chance of failure as cheaper ones being successful. Let’s learn from the Keita experience.

We all want to buy the best ie JB and more but the ffp is never talked about. Are we ok to spend 150 - 200 mill on 4 player just for example.
Obviously we can sell as well.
Eds2 could you answer this please. Is our ffp all good to spend big this summer?
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool do not have any FFP issues. They have considerable debt that needs to be serviced.}

Nice one, MKS. Maybe someone needs to ask James Pearce (the same guy who's been peddling rubbish about LFC for months now) that if we have considerable debt that needs to be serviced then should FSG "dig deep" hence, go deeper in debt jus to satisfy his own wishes?

The James Pearce who said the squad didn’t need anything last August and was ready to compete on all fronts again? Is that the same guy?

On this occasion, James Pearce is correct, The team needs significant investment, which does require the owners to dig deep.
It could be argued, the reason that Liverpool have missed out on the top 4 riches, is down to failure to invest in the team adequately.
Arsenal, Utd, Chelsea and now Newcastle will spend big again, so that is 5 teams chasing 3 champions league spots.
The teams that spend the most, are nearly always the winners of the big trophies. Bayern, Man City, Real Madrid etc.
Klopp will struggle again next season without serious investment in the team.

Greenflash, we do not need serious investment, IMO. We just need to get the right players in that can help us improve where we need to improve and MacAllister is a good start should he sign for us. That does not automatically mean "significant investment" either cos there is no indication that this will happen, IMO. Strategic investment is what I would call it and is what I think we need. That's just my opinion. Your comparison with Bayern, Ream Madrid etc. is just stuff that is off topic and won't bother to address.

As for Jalmes Pearce, he is NOT correct and has not been correct about anything in donkeys, IMO. James Pearce is not breaking any news by what he has said, based on the quotes the OP posted. We know what needs to be done and the hope is that we can do it, that's it. James Pearce is only doing doing what a lot of journos today now do as in, state the freaking obvious. Peace and Love.

Judging by the responses Pearce is doing a good job. His job is to get people to respond. Like all journalists if nobody reads / responds there is no job for them.
