I see the derby is on a Monday night again. Since when has one of the greatest fixtures in football history been deemed fit for the worst slot in football? Is this Sly sports again? I know we take their money but TV company’s are having too much say. I mean the Amazon time slots are just ridiculous. Very disappointed that a game that should be the star of a weekends football has now been dumped on a Monday night. Twice now, call me old fashioned but is football now slipping away from having any common sense whatsoever. The people running things are completely and undeniably laughable. Monday night football is the worst and I am just miffed at this decision. Thanks.

Everton have beaten Liverpool 5 times in this millennium. It’s a big game for us, a massive game for them, but for everyone else it’s just another fixture of a big team vs a little one.

You haven’t explained why Monday night is the worst, it seems to me that night game’s generally have a better atmosphere than day games. Why is it the worst?

Monday night Football in the NFL was the biggest game of the week for years. Before they had 3 primetime games weekly. I personally loved it.

I like a game on a Monday night. Something to look forward to after the weekend and also better atmosphere at a night game. 12.30 on a sat is the worst time to play for me.

What’s wrong with playing on a Monday night?

Evening kick offs at Anfield midweek are genuinely a good atmosphere. Obviously European nights set the tone but I find evening midweek fixtures to be nosier than Sat/ sun midday fixtures. And even later Sat / Sun can depend on who the opposition is.

I think Saturday lunchtime games are awful. They don’t seem like real matches and are a bit more like pre-season friendlies. There’s generally no atmosphere and for me Saturday actually starts at 3pm.

I quite like Monday night games. When Sky first introduced them I was living in Portsmouth and there was a gang of lads I worked with that all got into the pub to watch the match on (what was then a new invention) the big screen. The lads were from all around the country so if a team was playing who someone supported we all, obviously, supported the opposition. Good mates, a couple of scoops, good banter and a match - happy days.

Statistically we pick up less points in Monday night games, our general league average is 1.77 points per game and in Monday night games it’s 1.66 per game, so we seemingly do less well in Monday night football. I’ve no idea why, maybe it’s a hangover from the weekend? Poor preparation?
