I have just been reading about Caoimhin Kelleher considering quitting liverpool in the summer and i have to say i understand where he is coming from.

First of all he has to displace the greatest liverpool goalkeeper of my lifetime which is no easy task.

Secondly Becker still has plenty of miles on his clock and also Kelleher is already 23 and he must feel time is already slipping away.

When he and the club sit down to have a conversation about his career and it comes to light he does want to leave, i only hope we do not price him out of a move.

Its always difficult when you are a goalkeeper as you cannot play elsewhere, although we could have done a lot worse than stick him back up front during the tail end of the season.

Whatever happens he is part of lfc history, he has his place on the mural and the memory of scoring the winning penalty in a domestic cup final, after keeping a clean sheet.

I always admire players who want to play regulary and have a career rather than spend most of it as a back up.

He should not have signed that delicious 5 year contract last season if he wanted to leave.

Suspect a factor is that he has an opportunity to establish himself as no. 1 for Ireland this window with Bazunu injured.

But if next season rolls around and Kelleher is still on our bench and City loan out Bazunu again and he plays every week, it's safe to bet he'll drop behind him again no matter how well he plays.

Or maybe he was just put on the spot by the media and was too open with his response.
