In the Spring of 2010 RBS bank appointed Sir Martin Broughton as Chairman of LFC to sort out the mess and to sell the club so they could get their money back from Gillet and Hicks.

In his 6 months at the club he fought off legal challenges from G&H and lead a divided board to sell LFC to FSG (half the board favoured a rival bid) . At all times he said he wanted the new owners to be the best fit for Liverpool in the long term.

He then left LFC to return to supporting his beloved Chelsea. Methinks he had a smile on his face when Jordan lifted the cup.

Thanks for your work back then Sir Martin.

I don’t remember him being from Chelsea but if he was fair play.

A lot of people on here slate ED002 and ‘their live’ fir Chelsea but this to me goes to show what a well run club they are. Yes they have had a lot of managers but so what? They have won loads of trophies in that time.

Thanks for coming in Martin and putting us on the right path.

Crooky.

I knew he was a Chelsea fan, but I never heard him actually working for Chelsea Football Club.

He was the chairman of British Airways when he became our chairman.

Sir Martin Broughton is a businessman with tremendous acumen. He did the job professionally and used his experience to secure the club long term. He has enhanced his professional reputation in doing so.

I can remember LFC fans on twitter lambasting Broughton when LFC got rid of Rafa.

The club needed to be swept Clean to start afresh.

The removal of H&G plus Rafa was the only way the club could move on after many years of turmoil.

Thanks to Broughton he picked out Fenway/ FSG and finally the club is back on track.

I don't think Broughton was at the club when Rafa was sacked.

My bad. He was indeed at Liverpool when Rafa left. I'm still not sure what his remit was regarding moving Rafa on tho.

Actually, in interview with the Echo in 2017/ 18 (not sure which) he stated that he did not sack Rafa and didn't want him to go. I was convinced for a while that Ed002 was actually Sir Martin Broughton.

As big a Rafa fan as I am, he was basically not talking to Purslow by the time Broughton came in. That's not really workable, so regardless of whether he had a specific remit to remove Rafa or not, he kinda had to.

Wonder what Ed001's views on Purslow are, actually. He didn't exactly come out of things smelling of roses.

{Ed001's Note - can't stand Purslow. He is slimy.}

Oh my god, pass the sick bag please. Broughton rinsed the club personally for God knows how much to broker a deal between one set of venture capitalists to another set of venture capitalists who also continue to rinse the club to this very day. Post like this make me want to vomit, one day F$G will maximize there investment and won't care a jot who they sell to, but I'm sure you'd all still be on sites like this with fawning praise for them. Oh just remembered you can't criticise F$G on here, your views have to align with the guys on there payroll or your posts never see the light of day.

So how come your posts get posted, huh? And I'm on nobody's payroll except my own since the last 40 years, so watch where you throw your words because it's coming right back at you.
