Hi Ed001. Hope you’re well. Do you think Trent may be off to Madrid? And how would you feel if he goes?

{Ed001's Note - no I don't, not unless the club decides it wants to move him on.}

I don't believe it either ed1 mate, I think he will retire as captain with us. I do hope so.

Good to hear. Thanks Ed001.

This ain't complicated. If Trent does not want to go and the club have NO intention to move him on then, there is no cause for alarm. The constant sensationalism employed to make this topic more complicated than it actually is what I cannot understand.

I don't believe that he hasn't thought about it. Gerrard certainly did in his time. The idea of going to a club to play, let's be honest, with a superior squad. He's got a mate there in Bellingham, not a defining factor, but a draw non the less. It must be a temptation, Madrid won everything last season and there is no reason to suggest they won't be challenging again next. If winning titles and cups is the goal, is there a better place to be?
Having said that, Kane at Bayern and Owen are the precautionary tales!

{Ed001's Note - and Gerrard has repeatedly said, and told Trent too, that he made the right choice by staying and wouldn't change it if he had the chance to do it all again. In fact the only thing he has said that he would change is that he would have stayed longer, rather than leaving for LA. Or, as he put it, he would have put up with a few more months of Brendan in order to get the chance to work with Klopp.

Trent is a Liverpool fan, he has numerous charities he is heavily involved with in the city and is very close to his family, who are also Liverpool fans. If he goes, it is because the club have decided to take the money.}

Thanks Ed.001. Great reply. I certainly don't want him to leave but couldn't help thinking that it would be naive to suggest that he hasn't had his head turned. Your reply shows a wider picture.

In your opinion, should the club simply make him our top earner? Give him the golden ticket?

{Ed001's Note - no, he has never asked for it, so why would we do that? He is not about the money.}

If Trent signs a new contract, the only place on this planet that could afford him would be Saudi. Like Alisson, he's worth more to the club as a player than what any team in Europe could afford.

As Ed2 repeatedly says, a player is worth only what someone is willing to pay. On the same note, he's only worth what his employers are willing to accept. He's worth more to LFC than anyone else.

Ed is right, and I said months ago Trent agreed a new deal with Liverpool this was prior to changes at board level so I think it’s just about letting the dust settle and he will sign his new contract.

Hi eds1
I can’t remember now. Did Gerrard leave because he didn’t like Roger’s or did Roger’s want him moved on?

{Ed001's Note - he wasn't going to play much under Brendan, so Gerrard chose to leave. Rodgers was never in a strong enough position to move Gerrard on against his will mate.}

Who can remember Brendan dropping gerrard and rotating the squad for our important Real Madrid most win game.

I seen a clip of another player saying he did a team meeting in Spanish when nobody at the club spoke Spanish and the same guy went and asked him for new contract rodgers says Gucci belt and pointed at his belt very weird man.

Spot on, Ed. All this "he has a mate at x club" or "the chance to play in a super squad" and all that is all projection of "If it were me, I would do this or that" or the best one "Anyone would jump at the chance to go . ", something Gerrard and many other players have debunked royally in their career choices. Just so people inderstand, you are not Trent and whatever you or I would do is irrelevant here.

IMO, Trent already played in a super team and literaly the best team in Englland, Europe and the world over earlier in his career for a club he supported as a boy and in the city he was born and grew up with. That's a hole-in-one right there. Him having Jude over there is cool BUT again, that means diddly squat IF he is not looking to leave and the club has NO intention to "take the money" and sell him, IMO. If Trent goes, it will be cos he wants to leave and doesn't want to play here anymore (which I doubt" or clos the club has chosent to take the dough again, NO empirical evidence to support such a scenario. Just my opinion.

Pretty much right, Olired. Bellingham had his buddy playing over here at Liverpool (Trent), and in the end, it didn't mean much. If you heard Bellingham's post UCL Cup win interview, you would see a guy who thought he was born to play for Real Madrid. It was a no contest since the very beginning, but we fans, being fans, projected our hopes and desires. Natural, I would say.
