It’s a bit of Manager MOTD fever with Alonso for me. He’s off to a very good start but he hasn’t actually won anything yet. That said I hope he does, great player and seems like a pretty decent bloke.

As an aside, I wouldn’t mind Postecoglou as our manager provided he could keep his ego in check and remember it’s about the club and the fans as well as him.

I'm getting a little bit of a Rodgersesque vibe off Postecoglu to be honest. I think this time next year, he might be getting found out.

I could be wrong, obviously

Hopefully our next manager is not something we'll have to think about for a while yet anyway.

Alonso is a good shout but I agree we should wait and see how it goes over the next couple of years, then if he is still doing as well as he is now when Klopp goes. Then go for him. I have a feeling Klopp may even sign a contract extension, as realistically where does he go from here? Thinking about the type of club he likes to manage, there is not many that wouldn't feel like taking a step down.

When Jurgan takes this Liverpool 2.0 to the summit of European football and wins his 2nd UCL trophy. We must invest massively into the squad (don’t make the same mistake as last time and gradually decline)

If we do that, I see Jurgan staying at Anfield possibly for another 7/ 8 years. He won’t walk away from an all conquering team, but he will walk away from another rebuild.

Ange Ball and that ridiculous high line is a no for me. Plus, like another poster has pointed out is the Rodgers aka David Brent vibes he gives off. Alonso is the next manager we should be targeting when Klopp decides to leave.

We're once again at the beginning of something special, we have a great young squad who are capable of dominating. I think right now, knowing what these lads are capable of, it'd be difficult for Klopp to walk away because he'll want to lead them to the very top.
I also see him signing an extension.

I’m with you Alonso….

LiverpoolFC8 - Klopp let the squad age along with Edwards, giving players big contracts when they should have been moved on. As much as I disliked Fergie, he was ruthless. Klopp also had money to spend at a time when he chose not to….

If there is one dent in Klopp’s armour, it’s his loyalty to players. He should have been more ruthless with the likes of Naby, Ox and others….

Let's allow Alonso to grow, make his mistakes and learn from the, all that will allow him to grow and progress in his career. No point trying to run before you learn how to crawl properly.

@SR, I hear you on Ange BUT if anyone looks BR-esque is Arteta.

As for Klopp 2.0, the past is the past and Klopp visibly, has learned his lessons, IMO. Also, we no longer have Edwards in there enabling his blind spots anymore and if anything, we need a DOF that will challenge him and tell him No, just as "someone" up high put his/ their foot down and told Klopp No when he wanted to keep Milner in the summer.

We've been extremely spoilt with Klopp as manager because not only has he brought us success he's brought us entertainment.

You'd probably find loads of fans of other clubs haven't been that entertained with how their clubs play football these days or for even the last few years.

The only teams I find entertaining to watch this season outside of us are Spurs, Villa and Brighton.

I remember back in the Rafa days. He brought us plenty of success but Christ some games were hard to watch. I used to leave Anfield some games happy with the win but not blown away by the excitement of a game I had just seen.

I dread the day Klopp goes but hope whoever takes over from him has the same mentality as him where he's sets up to win every game and that also brings us success and trophies.

Jurgen seems to want to live and enjoy family time and life, more than be thinking about another club. At least with national football, he can have a bit more free time.
I don't see Jurgen extending again, especially with an increased amount of games in the CL.
He is so anti the corporitisation of the game.

I think we got lucky that he signed a contract extension the last time, I don’t see him doing it again. Obviously I hope I’m completely wrong but I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts.

As for Alonso, he’s a fair way to go to step up to a team of Liverpools calibre and. Keep us challenging because that’s what we expect now.

We all want Klopp to sign a new contract, I personally doubt he will, his age, his desire to manage the German national team and probably a desire just to go home, probably means he won’t sadly. So as to his replacement, it’s impossible isn’t it, because whomever comes in with a new style of football and a different way of interacting with the fans will draw unfavourable comparisons.

I’m very glad we aren’t a firing club, because we could easily end up on a utd style spiral if we were ( but without their revenue to keep going again) but even with that, it’s likely the next manager won’t have a klopp length tenure, I mean we can hope, but the likelihood is there will be a long transitional period.

So I personally think about the style of football I’d enjoy watching, or styles I think could work, during such a period, with our squad, so Alonso, Dezerbi, Postocoglu, maybe Kieran MCkenna though that is a big shout and Man Utd connections not premium obviously. After that I’m not really sure who I’d want.
