Anyone else think we should loan out elliot for A season? If we get two in, we have 9 cms and he’s bottom of the pile for me, but he is by no stretch a lost cause, just needs time to develop. I’m just not sure he is good enough right now to get it over who we have in the attacking roles.

No. Elliott has been around the first team long enough whereby a loan would make no sense now. Either he finds his place in the first team, becomes a squad player, or gets sold.

I almost feel like we should give Elliott a go from the left side of midfield. On the right side he is always looking to turn on to his left foot which almost always means he is turning towards his own goal as opposed to the opponents and that results in slowing down the tempo and the build up. I feel like if he can play on the left of the midfield three or build up more confidence on his right foot he will become less predictable and a force to be reckoned with. I am of course no expert and this is just my opinion.
I don’t think we should loan him out because he is also the most ready to cover for Salah on the right wing should god forbid an injury etc happen to Salah. Doak is an exciting talent but he will need some more time to mature.

He’s 20 years old…I can remember the same “sell him” talk being said about Henderson when he joined.

Harvey has a seemingly great work ethic, is a seemingly great kid, and gives 110% every time he’s on the pitch. It’s far too early to give up on him now.

I’d give him a loan for sure. Starting every week would be great for his development and he’s not shown me he’s good enough yet to do that for us.

I have massive hopes for Elliot and think he’s a great young player, but he doesn’t look well suited to our midfield 3 currently. I’d think a lob at a lower prem team would do him really well.

Elliott will get plenty of game time this season he has only just turned 20 in April.
He is still learning a new position and last season was still getting over that horrible injury and was used far too much in a midfield that was not working at all. Hopefully now the team round him will be better and he will get the time to develop and grow into the role.

Elliot is a supremely talented lad but I have said on here before he almost falls in to the category of not knowing how to play him is he a winger midfielder should he play as a centre forward bottom line the sheer fact he could play all these positions is hindering him but also one of his best attributes in equal measure. For me he has got to stay and he could easily stake claim to any role
In the team if he puts in some great performances . I think he could be a major part of our team
This year I really do.

Elliot does not need to go on loan. been there done that. He came back from Blackburn and the season after got the horrible injury, at the time when he shining to be fair. The problem I see is where he plays. He certainly doesn't look like a midfielder, he needs to play higher up. Where would you play him ed.

{Ed001's Note - I think he is fine in midfield, we just need to have a proper DM to give him freedom. I would be happy if that DM is Trent or one brought in, such as Lavia. But he needs that behind him to be able to play.}

When he first broke into the team he looked so exciting, everything was about going forward.
This understandably changed after his injury, he will control the ball and usually go sideways or backwards, even when it's clear that the ball needs to be moved on quickly.
There were signs at the end of last season that he was getting back to that offensive-first mindset, little flicks and nice through balls.
For me, he's a substitute at present.
Perhaps, as Ed001 says, the double pivot system may suit him if he's pushed slightly further forwards.
It's easy to lose your patience with him at times but he is still you young, just that if he's in the team, he has to justify that position.

Ed001 a player of his age and experience in the new position should not have been as exposed as he was last season. But now that season is over he would have had to learn fast and in the long run am sure it will stand him in good stead for the future.
His first season playing there before the injury when the team was at 100% he looked like we had found an absolute gem and his combinations with Salah and Trent down the right side were fantastic.
Last season the whole team was so off the pace it was almost impossible to believe it was the Same Team. If we get everything back going again am sure he will grow perfectly into a great right sided cm.

{Ed001's Note - sometimes it does them good to be exposed like that. They don't learn when it is easy.}

Ed001 may have a different opinion, but I honestly think Elliott should be doing 1-on-1 tutoring sessions with Bernardo Silva on how to become an annoying, wiry, press-resistant, ball-protecting little pest. Elliott has the ball control, dribbling ability and distribution to be exactly like the latter, which would be great for us.

Nope, no loan for me. Elliott already went on loan and was a success and was a true baller for us till his big injury. A loan will not work here, sorry. That ship has sailed and returned to the docks successfully, as I mentioned earlier.

The kid is struggling to nail down a real position in the team but that is not up to him alone cos the coaches are also involved here and have a say in this as well. I think he will be fine in midfield as well cos his best games have come in that part of the pitch.

His best game came in the 7 piece we dropped on the rags last term where Klopp had a wall in Fab and Hendo built behind him which allowed him to do some serios dammage to the point that Casemiro is still looking for him till now. He stays for him.

Crap, I meant to say, "He stays for me" at the end there. Darn autocorrect.

In a team with 2 8’s people can’t see his best position?
Kids his age should be carrying clipboards around, not having to be perfect and carry the weight of the team.
I think Elliot has a hugeeeee future with us, and will benefit from a more functional midfield around him.
