Seen some links today to a couple of Atletic Bilbao players, Oihan Sancet and Nico Williams. Peaked my interest because it's exactly the type of signings that made us successful. Young hungry players in their early 20s who won't cost silly money but have shown signs that they are ready to explode. Williams in particular could be an interesting one as he prefers to play on the right-wing and there are a lack of obvious alternatives to Salah, not just at the club but across Europe in general.

Thom, no from me re Nico Williams, I watch Spanish football Atletico not much, however having watched him (Nico), not convinced really, good coach may change that, but he is pretty good 1 minute then u scratch your head at the woeful decision, or what did he do that for type of thing.

Williams looks talented but the priority for me is at least 1 centre back and 2 midfielders.

That’s the start MK 1 cb and 2 midfielders then it will be money dependent. We can’t have Gomez and Matip as third choice cb’s anymore unfortunately.

This summers transfer window could be the most important in a long long time. We’re literally looking for a number of first team starters that can come in and hit the ground running over young squad fillers.

Klopp has his work cut out for him and the budget will determine how much harder that work could be.

Agree completely on 2 new midfielders MK, but just the 1 centre back? I think there’s maybe an argument for 2. Time to buy VVDs replacement?

Very right, JK. Looks like we've hit a tipping point or turning point or whatever you'd like to call it. The club management's response or solution will come in the summer.

I'm usually very positive but I really get the feeling Klopp has done all he can do with the core of this set of players. Time to change the core and address the missing parts in key positions. And if that's not going to happen then something has to be done about the coaching. I'm not convinced both can stay the same. I'm all for Klopp working his magic and having this set of players, and these tactical strategies, play like they did two years ago, after this summer. But it's not going to happen.

I’ve been trying to cheer myself up after Saturday and this type of news is at least heartening.
It’ll probably be better for us to look for the younger, athletic (and cheaper) players than those we’ve been linked with recently.
There’s not going to be CL football next season by the looks of things, so trying to get back to that smarter approach will be required.
Unless, of course, something drastic happens on the ownership front.
I’m not going to hold my breath on that subject though.

Alot of next season depends on nunez and gapko finding there form if nunez put away half the easy chances he had we'd be much better off this season So a lot of pressure on those young men for me along with a possible overhaul in midfield we need to get the right players in in what could possibly be one of the most important transfer windows we've had.

I'm not sure another forward player is really what we need. unless it's someone ready to go. Nunez and Gakpo are showing some signs of life as individuals but need time to grow together as a unit as well as being in sync with the rest of the team. With Diaz, Jota, Carvalho, Doak I would like to think that we save money on the forward line and spend it elsewhere. Things would change if we sell Mo, in which case I'd be ok buying but would be looking for someone a little more ready to contribute than develop.
