Not going to get carried away, as Bournemouth already proved to be a false dawn and with all due respect Rangers aren't serious competition. However maybe this will give us the spark needed to take into city and put in a performance. We generally stand up up to them and give them a game. Maybe, just maybe the season starts now and we can put a run together. Might call me hopeful, however I believe we can and will turn this season around.

I won’t believe it until i see 100% focus and concentration from the first minute to the last, sustained over a run of games. We are still conceding silly early goals so the problem still remains. Also many of the goals were from Rangers playing out from the back, which no other teams ever do because they know better.

Happy with the result in isolation but i’m not getting my hopes up of any kind of turnaround. I simply haven’t seen anything to suggest that it’s coming.

A false dawn?
We finished one point behind the PL champions less than six months ago.
We were runners up in the CL, as well.
They haven't even called last orders so there is no dawn.

the cool thing is that we've managed to keep scoring goals. over 2.5 goals / game in all games. I really don't think we're that far away, but obviosuly need to correct a couple minor things to get us back on track.

It can certainly be called a false dawn on this reason Rigsby. Last season is over, its irrelevant.

You’re only as good as your last game, right? So please stop the negativity, at least for 24 hours, it is so depressing.

When did we turn I to a bunch of Eeyores?

I thought you’re only as good as the trophies you nearly won last year, StEtienneAmen.
Is that not how the saying goes?

I don't see it as a false dawn for this season, Irish.
I don't think things were ever that dark this season and I don't think that by hammering Rangers that we have come through our our poor spell.

We won a game, end of. That's all that means and NOTHING more so people need to stop stating the obv. as if anybody is doing jumping jacks and jubilating that this win clears up our issues. We all know it doesn't.

Hence, can we just be happy about the win in isolation or is that now frowned upon in this forum? Just asking for a friend.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a false daw, or a storm in a teacup to any other trite cliche. I watch footy because I like seeing teams play well especially if it’s the Redmen and last night we beat the team the teams fans and our own self doubts and the second half was excellent. How’s about living in the moment and enjoying a top notch performance by my favourite (and the best) team on the planet. Just saying.

West Derby Wanderer, living in the moment? Surely you jest. How's that going to happen with all the negativity, the OTT comments/ reactions and lectures by hindsight geniuses being spewed on here as soon as the team has the audacity to go on a bad run?

A decent second half. Good link up between Bobby and all of his team mates. He was also guiding the young lads on the first press. Elliott and Gomez seemed to click in the second half. Fabinho finally made some turnovers in midfield and Konate, although a bit rusty, added some much needed aggression at the back. Carvalho pressed well and Darwin kept making good runs.

Good to see Salah and Jota making the impact off the bench. Salah playing more centrally gives the coaches a good headache.

Virg, Tsimikas and Hendo weren't their best.

At the very least, confidence will have improved a bit.

The distance between our forward line and defence still makes the whole setup look strange and risky but hey, let's see what we do on Sunday against City.

You can only beat what’s in front of you. Great result beating anyone 7-1 and a much needed confidence boost for Sunday. Hats off to Bobby his finishing this season has been top class.

Now City stand in front of us which will be a great test in itself. Me and my son are going to the hammers game on Wed so 2 more wins will be a great week for us.

Nice win. But it was only Rangers, Sunday is a fat sterner test. Let’s get through that before shouting.

It doesn’t matter about 1980 or what other year you care to mention. We started the season with the main aim being to win number 20. Second aim to win number 7, and third aim top 4. So it’s a real kick in the! That we are out already of the main race. But we still have big things to play for.

Rubbish first half but much more settled after the break. Need to stop conceeding first. Very good 2nd half and looking fluent. personally think it's the turning point. I always say it's after 6 games when the new season starts. No doubt we've been terrible at times. However after the 2nd half I'm a bit more convinced we can get something from city. start like we have those ladt 2 games and it's a spanking also. Time to get behind the team and especially KLOPP.

It's funny how last season is irrelevant but the warning signs were there for this season and it allowed us to compete in this season's CL.
How many teams are in the main race this season? I can only think of one.

It was a two horse race Rigsby, as it has been for the last 5 years. We won the two horse race once but this season so far we are a disgrace.
