Question for Ed001, would you take a Mane/ Lewandowski swap?

I would.

In a heartbeat.

{Ed001's Note - yes, 100%.}

Can he do it outside of Germany? Based on his champions league goal record I think the answer is probably yes.

The only question mark for me is his age. It’s quite old to be coming to a physical league like the PL and it would be a risk making him our highest earner if he couldn’t adjust.

Ed001, do you think there’s even the slightest chance of that happening?

{Ed001's Note - no.}

I would love this to happen, however he will probably join Barcelona and we would end up with gnabry.

Even the polish manager would love this to happen! he is a world class striker who would be in the six yard box finishing off dazzling wing play from Diaz!

Ed001: you have probably jinxed it now mate!

{Ed001's Note - probably.}

Ed001 just said it definitely won’t happen!

Counter jinx anyone?!?!

{Ed001's Note - double bluff?}

It'll be those wages that'll stop it.

He’s on something like £350’000 a week and he’s not going to want to move for less than that or the same. Add to that a £50m+ fee, that’s a lot of money for a 34 year old who is not in his prime and at the tail end of his career.

I agree VVVV. But when you take off Mane’s fee, Mane’s Wages. Your basically getting him on the free.

Lewandowski has played his career in Germany
Potentially less physical and slower paced than the EPL
This for me isn’t an issue if he signs for us as he has more miles left on the clock through not playing 120mph every single week.

So we need to lower the age of are front 3 and swap one of the for somebody about to turn 34 please please no sounds like something Utd would do.
I don’t care how many goals he scored in the German league or the champions league it’s not the premier league only got to look at Werner to no the difference, I know he is miles better than him but his goals would not be like his getting for Bayern. That’s is not taking a step backwards it’s running backwards and am pleased to think FSG are not that stupid.

We need to be thinking long range, not just one or two years.

As has been pointed out, the Bundesliga is far less physically demanding, the defending and keeping are not as good and playing for Bayern means he’s playing for a team that dominate almost every game, he’s not going to have that luxury here. He won’t get as much time on the ball here, he’s not going to facing keepers who are as easily beaten or defenders who stand off him week in week out.

I think 34 is too old to adjust (look at Messi at Paris), and also look how having a slowing mid thirties player up front affected United’s play overall. The guy wants to go to Barca, I say we don’t intervene in that.

I still can’t get over how poor Van Dijk made Lewandowski look 3 seasons back when we knocked Bayern out of the CL.
Mane would have at least put up a fight.
No way at 34 would I sign Lewa for Liverpool but it’s all moot in any case as it’s not a go’er to even start with.

Victor, you have repeated “£50m” on loads and loads of posts now. I’ve asked you before and I’ll ask you again - where have you got that figure from? As I haven’t seen it reported anywhere, and yet by repeating it, we’ll, repeatedly, you seem to have convinced others that that’s how much Lewa would cost!

Lewa is a phenomenon in the same breathe as the legendary Marco Van Basten, IMO. He would not have a prob playing in England. Not sure the signing would happen, tho. Ed01 jinxed, lol.
