I think most people would agree (given all the comments we get in here) that our midfield is lacking, therefore I’d agree with Ed, a dominating midfielder like souness.

I don't think our midfield are lacking. They are industrious and tenacious. They can all tackle and they can all pass. The creativity comes from the front 3, the fbs and shaqiri, milner and lallana.

{Ed001's Note - Fabinho is creative too.}

I hope we don't go for the Brexit midfield ever again. Gini, Milner n Hendo is painful at times. Love it When Fab is in there, I just think if we was in the CL final tomorrow though. He'd pick them 3.

Er OP, is Fabinho not that dominant and creative (from deep) midfielder already?

I didn’t realise how creative fab was but damn he has it all, he was even in double figures for goals when they got to the semis of the european cup.

I was replying to another post where someone asked what player from the past would you choose to put in the current team. I would say that of all the positions, midfield is the weakest of all (not weak but lacking in compared to defence and attack) . Ed said souness would be the player he’d choose and I happen to agree with him. As great as the players we’ve had down the years, I would say he’s is the biggest improvement relative to his position 👍.

{Ed025's Note - excellent player of his time hopeful, sadly with his style of play he would be carded nearly every game these days and a lot of them would be red, he would make fernandinho look like judge rinder mate

I'd quite like us to take a look at doucoure from Watford.

True ed, fabhino has been a revelation this season. can't wait for him to score. He hasn't scored yet has he? Or keita. Is keita injured?

{Ed002's Note - Fabinho has scored. Keita is not injured.}

I agree with you Ed025, Souness would have to modify his game big time. However, after Salah went off in the CL final one of my first thoughts was I wish we'd have had him on the pitch just to see his reaction to Ramos. If he'd managed to stay on the pitch, his absolute desire to win may have made a difference too.
