Evening all,

Just curious as to whether anyone has any Lfc pre match Routines/ superstitions?

True story. my late grandad sadly passed away November 2004. My grandad born and raised in Liverpool is the reason myself and many family members are reds even though we all live in Brighton and surrounding areas. Being a baker he lived a modest life and when he passes my nan gave me his LFC club tie and his old wristwatch.
His wrists were fairly thin so I could barely do the watch strap up. I kept his watch in my chest of drawers for months until I thought I would pop it in my pocket as a lucky charm for the 2005 Instanbul champions league final. Out with a group of friends and family on the night at a LFC supporters pub in Hove I was truly deflated at half time to see how we had being taken apart and were trailing 3-0. During the break I remembered the watch and managed to get it on my wrist for the second half. Kissing the watch after every goal as we clawed our way back, I called my Nan at full time with tears in my eyes, voice lost from shouting I managed to explain what I had done and to this day I keep the watch In my pocket for finals and potentially tricky games.

I have a similar but far less poignant story about Istanbul. On the day of the final, walking through Liverpool Airport to catch our flight, I saw a 1p piece on the floor. I was about to walk on by when the mate I was with said “Remember the old proverb - see a penny, pick it up and all day long you’ll have good luck”. So I picked it up and stuck it in my wallet. I forgot all about it until the start of the second half when the mate said “FFS, give that lucky penny a rub. ” And I did . and the rest is history. I still have that penny in my wallet and whenever we need a goal I give it a rub - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t but I dare not stop rubbing the damn thing or any bad result will be down to me!

Great story WW sadly mine only worked for that final and hasn't been as lucky for any of Klopps finals : ( but like you I continue on.

Ed025, although I kept the lucky penny, I put an equivalent amount in the poor box at my local church. 🤥.

I often spend some time before a big match sitting on the toilet. Does that count?

We park in the same spot, near enough, drink in the same pub before KO for a couple of hours (not the driver) and get a portion of chips from the same place before the match.
Just a routine not a superstition, but no-one would suggest changing it just in case.

I keep 2 Liverpool penny’s ( the ones that get rolled through a machine) with me all the time. And a Liverpool key ring that my son gave me at the start of the season. So I have to keep that with me everywhere now🤦🏻‍♂️.

I’ve worn the same top, coat and scarf to every home game I’ve attended this season (99% of the games) and started to get superstitious about it when I switched seats due to my brother not being able to go very often this season. It was nervy on Sunday as the zip broke on my usual coat and I forgot my scarf, fortunately the lucky under armour fleece top came up trumps again 😜
I even wear the bloody thing on match days when we are away or I just can’t go to the game. Now here’s the bizarre thing it’s a golf top and Man City sky blue in colour, can’t ditch it now though it’s still unbeaten 😱.
