Him not being assigned a number is definitely intriguing. There will be a reason for it. Someone is leaving whose number he wants. Clyne of course maybe lallana? I wonder.

Can a player just not be reassigned a number rather than be sold? I’m sure I’ve seen that happen before at other clubs?

{Ed001's Note - yes they can and often do change their number between seasons. I know of one lad who actually paid for new shirts for all the people who had bought a new one with his name and number on the back just before he changed it.}

Didn't sakho do exactly that Ed when he changed from 17 to 3 when we bought Klavan. I seem to recall something about him offering to buy fans new shirts to replace the sakho 17 ones.

Shouldn’t it be easy enough to find out who the club considers ‘for sale’ eds? Would they wait for enquiries from interested clubs? Wouldn’t it be easier to put a list on the club website? ;)
