Ed001 if you were a betting man would you say the club will get a player in before the WC and how likely is it? I know transfers never run smoothly mate.

{Ed001's Note - I am not a betting man, but I do expect the club to try and get all its business concluded before the WC commences. The early closure of the window will make sure that every club in the Prem is trying to complete all their incomings before then.}

Any idea who we are interested in ed001? I've been out of the loop for a few hours due to server issues so I was wondering if anything had changed in that time? 😂.

{Ed001's Note - arggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!}

Bloody hell ed that's just 3 and a half weeks away mate.

{Ed001's Note - the only fault is the idiots that voted for the shortened transfer window. It was a huge mistake. They tried to fix problems created by shortening the windows by making them even shorter. Bizarre but that is what they did.}

I understand very little about how transfers work but wouldn’t it make it easier to open up the transfer market throughout the season? The argument against would be that it would unsettle teams but surely it wouldn’t be as pressured as deals could be done at any time? Just a thought.

{Ed001's Note - exactly mate. It only benefits the biggest clubs to have a shorter window, but very few people seem to understand that. It used to be so much simpler when it only shut for a month or so at the end of the season. Players could afford to be patient and so got less unsettled as they had months to sort out a move, rather than weeks.

It especially hinders youth development as teams build huge squads in case of injury. In the past an injury crisis would see a youngster given a shot, knowing that the clubs could delve into the transfer market if the youngsters were not good enough.

Also the feeding frenzy on TV could never get into such a state on deadline day. It was not a big deal as you had 10 months to make deals and only had a month or two where you couldn't. It is not like the speculation goes down when the window is shut, so not actually sure what benefits have been gained.}

Hhmm seems crazy mate. I guess the next few weeks will be busy lol. Am I right in thinking there is one main focus this week for us mate, the final.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate. The club is all about the trophy right now.}

I'm expecting transfers to become public knowledge with us after the final, obviously there's lots of work going on behind the scenes but the focus is on the final for now.
Macca said a week or two ago that Butland is almost done so I'd expect him to be the first in and if reports are to be believed (I take them very much with a pinch of salt) then Fekir will also be joining early.

Oh thank dog! I thought my company's IT department had finally caught me and blocked this site. What a terrible Monday morning!

I'm not a betting man either, but I'll give you odds of twelvety-to-one that we'll sign any players going to the World Cup before they fly off to Russia (Fekir, Dembele, Odriozola and Butland? ) and those who aren't going we'll sign during the tournament (Ceballos, Reina, Max) . So, they'll all have time for house-hunting and a stroll around Liverpool One before reporting for pre-season. And all the Eds can put their feet up for the summer and relax. (Actually, the former is probably more likely than the latter. )

Ed01, not sure if you’d agree but it also seems the short window plays right into the hands of the shady mega-agents. Short windows = lots of opportunities for behind the scenes discussions, smoke and mirrors and misinformation to be spread in between with inability to confirm or deny until the window opens. It creates the opportunity for players to be unsettled, for bidding wars to be teed up, and ridiculous agents fees to be ripped out from the desperate clubs.

{Ed001's Note - very true. Good point.}
