I see a lot of debate over Mahrez tonight with some fans in uproar over it. Genuine question, Did anyone actually know of Lemar prior to July 17? (Ive spent a bit of time looking at people's profiles and the search engine and I can't find anything on him) . I've seen him play once for France so he is an unknown quantity to me. Is he really that good for the price supposedly quoted as he plays in France where even Joe Cole looked good a couple of seasons ago. Does Lemar track back and what is his attitude like as these are the questions being raised about Mahrez.

I think the thing about mahrez is that he’s a very inconsistent player that plays in a position that already has two of our best players in. If Mané and Salah are both fully fit all mahrez becomes is an option from the bench whereas coutinho can play centrally just behind the 3 and interchange like we’ve done before. Mahrez can’t play that role and lemar can. He was great for them last season and he’s been decent this season for a team that’s been picked apart. No one knew mahrez before they won the league so that’s a moot point really. It’s just logic, what will we miss most from coutinho leaving and which area of the pitch is lacking the most when everyone’s fully fit (attacking aspect) . It’s the creativity from midfield, not the front 3.

I think mahrez is a decent player and quite honestly I think we’d need two players to replace coutinho because he’s that good from two positions and unfortunately there’s not a lot of players out there that can do that as well as him right now. All we can do is sell our world class player and replace him with top quality ones. It’s important not to do what we did once we sold Suárez and bring in absolute garbage.

Lemar has looked very good any time I've watched him live. He has great technique and superb delivery. He's fast but he doesn't have that extra burst of pace that most likely would see him develop into a world class winger. He's also versatile and can play in a few positions which is a big positive. I think he'd be a very good player for us but he doesn't excite me especially for 90 plus million. I'd personally prefer pulisic (but I think he's just not ready to leave)

I watched him during Monaco’s champions league run, looked like an excellent player.

Look like mahrez will be playing on the right side while salah playing more centrally. Firmino will be the creativity needed in midfield thought not as good as coutinho in opening though defence but the front three of mane, salah and mahrez could be very exciting with their skill set.

The thing that Lemar has is that he works hard, has bags of skill, and can strike a ball, his free kicks are top notch and can take a good corner. He can play wide left of a midfield three, number 8, number 10 and on the wing and doesn’t look out of place in any of those positions. He was excellent the last couple years in France, he’s been affected by injury this season but has still been one of Monaco’s stand out performers. Puts a shift in and doesn’t go missing. This boy can go far would be short sighted not to go for him.

Seeing all these comments about mahrez being lazy and having a bad attitude ate laughable they really are. different mangers demand/ get different responses from players it's always happend, mane was always criticised at soton for his attitude and could work harder. look at him for us, he's been an absolute machine since we signed him, also gini was called a problem at Newcastle for his attitude and laziness again under klopp he's been immense for the most. I for 1 think a mahrez under klopp would flourish, good goal scorer and also a scorer of great goals, can see and deliver a pass. I think we could do a lot worse than mahrez and someone is going to get the mahrez league winner form out of him again . also coutinho was never one for a massive work rate it improved over time but he's no mane in that department so don't let all this work rate thing be an issue as I don't think klopp would sign someone who won't buy into his ethos.

If any of the eds are about, have anyone of you heard anything from MACCA? Not heard of him lately.

{Ed001's Note - he is a busy man mate, he has always had long periods where he is too busy to visit the sites.}

Kman mate, if you don't think mahrez can play centrally, i ask you to go watch our pre season game against leicester. When he completely embarrassed lallana and gini for 90 minutes.

Good question Jayden. Never seen him play but I'm sure that 90 million is a bargain! Funny how excited people get, it's like champagne. It's expensive, you get told its the bees knees and then when you try it, its just a load of bubbles. I think it would be more a signing of hope than of expectation for most.

I am a bit surprised that the Brandt interest has not been followed up on. The kid wanted game time and saw Coutinho as being in his way. With Coutinho gone, wouldn't it be easier to convince him to join now?

IB, if Brandt, a full German international needs assurances over playing time to come to us then maybe he isn’t the right player for us. Everyone should have to fight to get in the team and be there on merit, not because they were promised a spot in the team.

I must of missed that benny mate, I’ll check it out though. Wouldn’t be totally against the signing but I just personally think there are better options out there. I just hope we actually bring in someone (ideally not a panic buy but you never know with Liverpool)
