Hi edd01, just wondering if you know if there are any plans to integrate Adam Lewis into the first team squad any time soon?

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of mate.}

Great player. Gerrard's comments today worried me slightly.

He described Lewis as the most talented player he has ever seen at that age. That sort of comment can go to a players head.

He then went on to say he really wants to keep Lewis in the u18's even though he is good enough for the u23's. That's either more over hyping, or he considers his u18 results to be more important than producing players capable of going up a level.

Leave the fans to jump on the bandwagons! A youth coaches job is to keep these guys grounded.

The whole interview was just a bit weird to be honest. I've been impressed with Gerrard so far in his coaching role but he still suffers from "foot in mouth" syndrome apparently!

Gerrard have the lad praise based on his performances which I have watched a lot of and agree. Also I think you have misunderstood his comments he clearly means he would love to keep him in his team but feels way he is playing he will likely step up to u23s on merit. If you watch u18s games you can hear and see Gerrard motivating and encouraging the lads non stop. And also on numerous occasions on scoring the lads choose to run over to him, which in my eyes is only a great thing and shows they are a happy tight group. Hope the u18s and u23s keep up great work.

It’s just a press release it’s funny how he picked to say the scouser who’s been at the club since 6 is the best isn’t surprising. It’s always the young local lad rather than the actual most talented.

Jezza Kyle, why do you always have to make comments about that? I swear you never have anything positive to say!

The bigging up of these young players esp. these teenagers needs to stop. It is not helping them. SG is a manager/ coach now, no longer a player. He should learn to measure his words when evaluating players or talking about them.

And we wonder why young players get to a certain age and fall away unable to handle pressure etc! Yes it's good to protect young players but you do relise in the near future if good enough they would need to step out in front of 53,000 people! Can't believe 1 of our youth coaches are getting stick for praising and in my eyes giving a talented 18 year old confidence were not talking about a 14 year old then I'd fully agree.
