Unfortunately the U23s lost to Man United tonight 1-0. Man U scored right at the death to win it. Shamal George saved a penalty which is always a positive (what is it with our keepers the past week? 😂) .
Our team was quite inexperienced on the whole and there was a notable absence of Harry Wilson, who has been one of the standouts this season for the U23s. You can only assume he will be playing a part in the Plymouth game. The game was closely contested and as a result there were few clear cut chances. In my last post I said that the U23s are always entertaining to watch and then this happened, typical!
If anyone watched or was at the game, please feel free to add to or correct my post.
Disappointing result but you can't win them all and the way our inexperienced side played at times was encouraging.
Next up is Ipswich at home on Sunday in the Premier League Cup, and again I encourage anyone nearby to go and support the boys

Absolutely brilliant work DaRedMan. As important as Carra Gold. Keep up 👍

Got to agree with Harry AGAIN!

Sterling work, Daredman.

Thanks!

Hope to see Wilson soon given the reports.

There were number of U23 regulars missing from this team including Woodburn, Ejaria, TAA, Ojo, Wilson as well the Maguire who has now left the club, Chirivella who is out on loan and Brannagan who is injured. Juanma wasn't involved either and I think he maybe injured.

much respect to all those that get out and support the youth sides, for me some of the best football i've watched has come from youth football, and when i get to liverpool one day that will be the first game i watch, the next john barnes will come from our youth.

I expect to see Wilson against Plymouth, perhaps as a sub for Ojo (or visa-versa) - good to see so many youngsters rested for the Plymouth game
