Hello all. First time post here. Though I've been reading a long time. Cheers to everyone for the contributions I've enjoyed reading.

Just a few thoughts.

First. Mignolet had a pretty good game yesterday. Perhaps some LFC fans should give credit when it's due, So many are quick to criticise and slow to praise! This is the theme I generally want to chat about here.

Mignolet and Moreno are OUR players for the foreseeable future. First choice or not, they have a role to play this season.

Lets hope they hit some form and improve as players. Klopp hasn't given up on them and neither should we.

They've had a rough time getting a lot criticism, which is bound to affect their confidence and let doubt creep into their decision-making. It doesn't help the team or the players to abuse them though.

Both Migs and Moreno give 100% effort, and by all accounts they are good professionals. They are still young and have the potential to be better players.

For example, I have faith that Klopp will be emphasising that Moreno stays on his feet more often. It is his major weakness. He did so noticeably after half time. He uncharacteristically held back on lunging in on a number of occasions. Klopp must have had words, and I hope the penny finally dropped.

(and yes, I know he is weak positionally too - but that can be improved also - There are positives. He is actually a good player on the ball, even his biggest critic would admit he is quite comfortable receiving and passing the ball, and maintaining possession. He is fit, fast and has a good engine)

I'm not saying here that slating some players is not understandable, but it's the ones who stroll around the pitch with no fight, commitment or care for the team that bother me. The Balotelli's of this world.

Migs and Moreno are trying to fight for the team - and their place in it - they're not sitting about smoking fags, picking up the cash and talking about winning the Ballon d'Or whilst they've been 'phoning it in' for years. There is a difference.

And I believe that Klopp has the sense to know the difference too. Hence his different treatment of Migs and Moreno.

Lets get supporting these lads! It can only be a positive. If they don't improve much, they will no doubt eventually leave. At least they gave it their all, but we should support those who are trying their best. At least then we can say that we encouraged them - and it didn't work out. Or be pleasantly surprised when they improve.

Whatever happened to "you'll never walk alone"?

Lets show a bit of class. Lots of potential and lots of room to improve. It's going to be an interesting season!

YNWA, my fellow Reds. :)

I posted here previously that Morenho isn't so bad. I said even if we signed a new lb, he would still get some game time.
After the Barcalona match, I even posted to ask how many goals did we concede from the left (sarcastically) .
But after watching yesterdays game, I have to admit, I was wrong!
He needs to move on completely.
Just after giving away the penalty, his positioning was aweful! Now some may say it wasn't entirely his fault, because someone else lost the ball. And that he was already on his way forward. But, was there a need for him to be in attack? We were still in our half, there were a lot of Arsenal's players in our half. We had the ball in midfield, and were looking to attack, but we did have other options. Morenho did not have to be our way forwardm.

Whilst I agree to most of the OP 100% effort is the least we should expect.

it was all his fault regardless of someone else losing the ball or not. The guy is hopeless. he just wonders forward as soon as we win the ball back regardless of what part of the pitch we win it. on the goal, we won the ball on the edge of the box after the penalty and already Moreno is on his bike headlessly motoring forward whereas the ball is on the other side of the pitch instead of keeping his position in line with the other defenders. Lallana gets tackled, loses the ball, Iwobi sees the space vacated by Moreno and just feeds Walcott who is all alone, with Moreno stupidly scampering back until he scores. Dion`t even get me started on the penalty. I don`t know how this guy made t as a professional because he has NO footballing brain at all. The guy is just awful to the point of utter fascination.

Hey Sebrubass. Quick question, are you mental?

Moreno seems to be getting worse by the game. We'd be better playing with no-one at LB. He doesn't contribute anything defensively and eternally seems to be one mistimed tackle away from a red card!

How bad must he be that he is behind a right footed CM in the pecking order for LB.

Migs did well. He wasn't accountable for any of the goals IMO.

OP if the penny didn't drop a while ago that is already a problem. i could understand what you wrote if this was a once off or a once in a blue moon error he made, but its the one thing he is consistent with. Diving in legs flailing without any timing what so ever, if giving 100% is all it was then good for him, but you have to think while using that 100% or its pointless when it costs us points, luckily it didn't this time. don't get me wrong i would love it if he turned it around and suddenly became a complete LB using his noggin rather than just his athleticism, and ill be rooting that he does, but unfortunately i doubt it.

Hi Andy,

Cheers for the post. I hear you, and I know he's very poor atm. He has had me as bewildered as anyone through his performances for a long time now. But I just don't see the benefit of throttling him relentlessly as some do.

He made an awful error for the penalty. Awful. Diving in for no reason when the ball was there to be won cleanly. He was caught out when Lallana lost possession too. But in his defence, anticipating Lallana losing the ball in that situation was a tall order. Credit to Walcott for the finish too. He is blindsighted whilst ball-watching too often also - for sure, and was so again against Arsenal.

But by the hyperbole said/ written about his performance, you'd swear his career was over. He had a particularly bad game. He had some bad games last year too. Sure.

But he can improve, and he will play this season. So I do reckon some amongst us should support him better.

Despite my sharing your misgivings about his performances and his weaknesses, I just don't see any benefit to the relentless savaging he gets online/ on social media. It can only hurt the confidence of the players.

As long as he - or any player at LFC - keeps trying to improve, and gives 100% - I reckon we should support them. We can constructively criticise players, and we can voice our view that we should sell them - But once the season starts and they're part of our team. We should support them and look for their improvement - not seek to jump on the 'destroy them' bandwagon the next time they make a mistake.

Some of the stuff written about Migs and Moreno can be pretty out of order. And just plainly counter-productive. That's just the way I see it!

Maybe people should tweet him with some advice to stay on his feet more, commend him on his efforts and tell him to keep working hard! Rather than telling him to get lost, and not in polite terms!

Cheers for the reply. All the best.

While Moreno is a liability, as long as the manager keeps putting him out there, i'm supporting him and hoping he manages to turn his game around for the sake of the club.

As much as i know it's a lost cause. His positioning game is off whack, he doesn't have the mentality a defender needs it seems and that his basics of defending just aren't there which is worrying, we simply don't have anyone else to do a job for us, although i'd be so tempted to put Can at right back and Clyne at left back and see how that goes, if Moreno keeps up with his erratic tackles, positioning and clearances.

I've not been reading too many people moaning and slating Nacho Monreal's performance yesterday though. I thought he got ruined by Clyne and Mane.

That is where you are wrong, Sebrubass. We can see that Origi, Firmino, Can, Hendo and several others are trying to improve based on their improved performance and their effort. if you are trying to tell us that you see that in Moreno then you are really taking us for a ride because that is simply not true. Moreno has been like this since he arrived here in 2014 and is getting worse by the game. There is no improvement to his game and the fact that we are still trying to get a LB in should tell you that Klopp wants rid. Stop defending the indefensible as it is becoming quite boring. The guy is hopeless, end of.

Mingolet and Moreno are awful. There is no point in pretending otherwise, it's not a confidence issue or a matter of 'support'. They are just awful with unforgiveable error after unforgiveable error. Any attempt to deny it or point to their 'committment' or 'effort' is as ridiculous as suggesting that I should be the starting goalkeeper because I'd give it my all.

They are out there because we lack options, pure and simple. In Moreno's case I somewhat get it (although I would be playing Flanagan there) - we haven't been able to secure another option. In Mingolet's case I consider it a supreme tactical and management error; this season should be seeing Ward deputizing for Karius, not Ward being Huddersfield's star player but a country mile whilst our keeper concedes on the near post and is unable to kick a ball in a straight line.

Wow there's no getting off the we hate Moreno bandwagon, some fans are even having a go at the OP just because he said support a player who plays for Liverpool lol.

Welsh, Supporting a player is a two way street. Many wanted to support Benteke when he first arrived yet many stopped because he just isn`t interested in improving and his attitude stinks. I will never support such a player. In contrast, Origi is getting all the support because he is showing his willingness to dig deep, work hard and improve, all of which he has done and the rewards are there to prove it. Moreno has no intention nor the attitude needed to improve and I frankly, think he`s not interested in getting better hence, he continues to get worse by the game. If you wanna keep supporting a player who doesn`t seem to care how much his errors hurt us as a club then have at it. Don`t expected the rest of us to follow such a deluded way of thinking.

Not going to really comment on Moreno, but i think in all fairness Migsy should get credit. He might have been able to get the deflection but then its a deflection so difficult, Literally nothing he could do for the 3rd goal. I remember before Carzola took it i thought he will drift it into this area here as it looks like pool are a man our of position and they did and it was a free header. Walcott took his chance well. But he looked a bit more confident punching and coming for the ball plus he saved the pen and we got the 3 points so i thought credit to migs he had a decent game.

Your right, we should give Moreno a break, but the under 23s are looking for a left back?
