Ed001 confirmed Coutinho has asked to leave for CL football and that the club is trying to change his mind. I highly doubt he will be here next year.

He wants out. Forget this argument about how good he is, whether he his over rated, his inconsistency, poor conversion rate, anonymous in two finals, being arguably our best player, or scoring screamers.

If he wants out, I want him out for that reason alone. Klopp plays a style if football which demands commitment, work rate and team spirit. I don't want anyone on the pitch who doesn't want to be there.

So this raging debate is irrelevant and pointless. Fact is, Coutinho wants to leave. I just hope we get a good fee and find a good replacement. Replacement doesn't even have to cost a bomb. Coutinho only cost £8m himself remember.

Look at yourselves though, turning on each other over a player who doesn't even want to play for Liverpool. Praying the club forces him to stay in some desperate attempt to cling on to him. It is like watching two best mates fight over a girl who doesn't want to be with either of them.

Klopp lost much better players at Dortmund and always replaced them. Gundogan for Sahin, Mkhitaryan for Kagawa, Aubameyang for Lewandowski etc. I'm sure he can work his magic to replace Coutinho.

Why is it always doom and gloom on here. Just to wade in on the pointless argument. The main players I hope we keep are Henderson, Lucas and Firmino. Hendo and Firmino because they epitomise Klopps style of work ethic combined with quality, and Lucas because he for me is Mr Liverpool with his dedication and leadership qualities.

There's a difference between holding him ransom and convincing him to stay by helping him see there's potentially something special happening at the club.

Personally hope he stays.

The ball is clearly in couts hands. if he wants to go let him. In my opinion he is brilliant on his day and then bad in other games. As long as klopp gets a good replacement in I'd be happy.
Have faith in klopp whatever happens.

You need to see the bigger picture MKS.
Never in my 40 plus years of following Liverpool have I known the fanbase so divided as they have been under FSG's watch.
Think about that.
The Souness issue, Hicks and Gilett, Roy Hodgson, all these things were worse for the club, but the fans were pretty together on how to deal with it.

F$G have utterly divided the club, I don't know what they're trying to do really because it goes from one thing to another, year on year.

Everything you said was right, until you mentioned Henderson. Sell Phil, keep Henderson?
Yeah because he's done anything for us at all?

Heisenberg, I hope he changes his mind as well. The key word there being "he".

If the club has to convince him with money or cleverly spun words then I'm still not interested. Deep down, he'll still have one eye on the exit door and will just lose focus as soon as the going gets tough.

HE has to want to stay. Not us or the club. The fact he has already told the club he wants out to me suggests his mind is made up. It's not like he has told international team mates or friends. He has called a meeting with the club, sat down, and said he wants out. That is a calculated decision, not something said flippantly to a mate at a barbecue.

If his head's turned, we need to let him go. Hate to praise Chelsea, but one thing they are a cut above the rest of the league in is being willing to sell players who want to leave.

There's been lots of really good players down the years, who've never played in the Champions League.
But these days, some players seem to think they've got a divine right to play Champions League football.
If Coutinho thinks the grass is greener elsewhere, and no longer wants to play for Liverpool. we should sell him quickly. before pre season.
We' ll make a tidy profit and can bring in someone who'll hopefully, be proud to wear the Red shirt of LFC under Jurgen Klopp.
Coutinho is definately replaceable .

If Couts wants to leave then let him go, players that have left in the recent past haven't always shined at their chosen club, Sterling, Torres spring to mind. Get decent money for him (apparently PSG and Barcelona are in for him? ) and move on, bring the next player in. The club is always bigger than the player. I think he had made his feeling known a while a go tbh, his form tapered off towards the back end of the season. The big question is who replaces him, Firmino, Lallana and Henderson all capable of playing the 10 role or bring someone in we have been linked to Higuain, Pjanic, not like for like replacements I know.

I hope personally he does stay, as i hate see us sell our better players. However as said, has to come from him, he has to want to stay and be a Liverpool player. Hopefully he doesn't forget that without Liverpool he would not be where he is today as a player. If he does go we can fetch a nice return on him. He is a bit like Sterling, is filled with potential, and can come up with a bit of magic, but he has never done it on a consistent basis, and it frustrates me because he can do it, he is a player you can't leave out of the team sadly, but what is even sadder is when he is on the pitch, he can be doing much better.

Like many of out stars that have asked to leave over the years, not many have gone on to be bigger players than what they were then at Liverpool bar Suarez, definitely in the last 10 years. The grass isn't greener and he should be wary of this. I would think very few teams will be able help his progression as a player. Look at Sterling, has he really progressed as a player? He may have won the league cup at our expense but he hasn't reached the heights of 13/ 14 season. Coutinho should use Sterling and also Torres as examples, sure they have won trophies but will they be happy at the end of the career with medals but with the knowledge that they never truely lived up to their potential? I think he will get better under Klopp and we will eventually win trophies, look what he did tous this season, we have progressud under him with little or no time to really implement his ideas. Hopefully Coutinho can make the best decision for him as a player. He can always move later in his career, but i feel if he did go to one of the powerhouses he will be a flop at current rate of his play and consistency.

I wouldn't be going anywhere with Klopp in charge.

I wouldn't say Fsg have divided the club at all. They are crap at picking managers is what i would say which has a severe effect on everything else at the club. Buying the right players being the obvious one. What divides the club for me is the mass of information that us fans have at our disposal and every man and his dog having an opinion.

There is nothing yet to suggest that Coutinho cannot be persuaded to stay. Suarez wanted to leave for Arsenal/ Juventus, Gerrard wanted to go to Chelsea, and ended up staying and helping Liverpool. I hope LFC can convince Coutinho to stay for a little while longer yet.

How could someone say Coutinho has been Bad? That's a terrible argument. He has had poor performance and that highlights our Results ( Either we loose or draw ) which shows what an important player he is.

According to Ed02, PSG had watched forming who is on fine form, Would someone rule out his exit next summer? From Torres to Coutinho we have been loosing one main player every summer. This has to stop.
