Ok before people read this post I don't want Liverpool to sell many players this season as I think we are at the point were we need to add quality rather than quantity, but in relation to Coutinho -
In 43 games last season he scored 12 and assisted in 7, a return of a goal/ assist once every 0.44 outings.
It's a respectable statistic, but hardly earth shattering
Firmino, scored 10 and assisted 7 in his first season in EPL, in the same number of games
IF we were to sell Coutinho for the reputed £46m, would this not be better spent attempting to shore up our pourous defence ie a LB and another CB and/ or proven DM, when considering; that we squandered 19 points from winning positions (Leading in the 2nd half) throughout the 2015/ 16 premier league season.
To put that into context we would have finished 2nd 2 points adrift of Leicester.

Would love coutinho to stay as think he is a fantastic footballer. But hope people don't slate him and realise we aren't the pinnacle of football and as long as a player handles him self professionally and we are given a fair few for him, then fair enough. Tbf I don't think any English team is in the top 5 world teams and imagine any player in the BPL would hand a transfer request to play for real, Barca, Bayern, etc.
He is a wonderfully talented player and think people are understating what he offers, one of the few players in our team capable of something special.
The positive is (much like Leicester) the money raised from selling him (and about 10 other players) could possibly make for a better overall team that isn't reliant on 1 or 2 players. Perfect example is athletico, can say the have griezmann but it is far more about the team then any individual player.

How about dipping into some of the tb cash and sales of the other players and giving coutinho a proper bases to perform eseoecially a lb that will have his back.

Grujic is not even close to a defensive mid. He plays as an attacking midfielder and it has even been suggested by one of his coaches that he is best on the wing.
He has confessed himself, that the biggest weakness to his game is how poor he is defensively. That is straight from his own mouth.
So I don't know where you heard that puzzled, but you heard wrong. At 19/ 20 he is young enough to learn, so Klopp may choose to mould him into a defensive midfielder as at about 6ft4 he certainly has the physique. It isn't his natural game though.

MK, my mistake then. Thanks for pointing it out. I still don't see the need for a DM though as he is still another midfielder to which we already have plenty.

It depends who is available buddy. If a top talent like Hojbjerg wants to sign for us, I'd take the chance!

Also Henderson who is our current captain was the target of some bile not so long ago and if memory serves came within an ace of being sold to Fulham under Rogers, towards the back end of last season whilst injured he was surely missed, prefer Henderson and Grujic to Can and Grujic as the middle 2.

If Couts wants to leave then let him go, players that have left in the recent past haven't always shined at their chosen club, Sterling, Torres spring to mind. Get decent money for him (apparently PSG and Barcelona are in for him? ) and move on, bring the next player in. The club is always bigger than the player. I think he had made his feeling known a while a go tbh, his form tapered off towards the back end of the season. The big question is who replaces him, Firmino, Lallana and Henderson all capable of playing the 10 role or bring someone in we have been linked to Higuain, Pjanic, not like for like replacements I know.

Best way of curing the left back problem is to swap Clyne over to the left and put Flannagan on the right for next season. A couple of times we have done this throughout the season and we looked a lot more secure at the back. I know we couldn't have done this last night. We could then have Smith as cover as well as Gomez. Would sell off Moreno and try to get in a LB in this or the January window. Personally think we need a GK, LB, a proper defensive mid, and Gotse. I also thought Can had his worst game for us in a long time at fault for the 2nd goal. The squad definitely needs trimming with no european football next season which I think is a good think as long as it is only for one season.

Can't believe we are actually looking to move on 3 England internationals who were part of a team that beat Germany 3-2 in Berlin. Although i agree that Milner is an expense we did not necessarily need in the summer.
It has been widely accepted that the squad needs trimming in the summer so more exits than entrances.
A goalkeeper, a left back / winger are our priorities, if Skertl exits then a replacement needs to be found, same with Benteke.
The most at risk in my opinion are Bogdan, Mignolet, Allen, Skertl, Ilori, Benteke, Moreno, Wisdom, Ballotelli.
Markovic could return and be a useful addition to the squad.
What is not needed is another summer of us buying 8 to 10 players 4 or 5 tops but quality.
