Apparently martip and thiago will both be staying and leaving on free transfers next summer as teams aren't showing an interest which makes it unlikely Liverpool will sign a centre back this summer unless tsimikas is moved on.

Thiago has a huge salary so it was always very unlikely he would move on this summer.
I wouldn't rule out a CB just because Matip is likely staying. Liverpool have a history of bringing in a successor early, prior to a player leaving.

Fingers crossed this is not the case.
Relying on Matip, Gomez and Thiago to go a season without a long lay off with injury is simply asking for trouble. Matip and Gomez can't seem to handle the standard defensive practices in centre back, can't imagine how they will handle Konate's role if Konate was to get injured. It asks a lot of a player physically and mentally, and Konate is not exactly injury free.
Hopefully the club realises that we can not push Van Dijk week after week without rotation. He is soon to be 32, has played virtually every game when available to play, no rest or break given. Keeping Matip and Gomez, both, would show we have not learned our lesson. Gomez is the most likely to stay, of the two, due to the home grown quota.
Honestly, I would sell Matip for between 5-10 million, get his wages off the books and look for a suitable replacement. Micky Van Den Ven looks like he could fulfill the role, from the little I have seen. We can forget Gvardiol, etc. Van Den Ven would not be as expensive, and he has the pace to cover like Konate.

@Mango, mate, save some of the thinking and stress until the window actually opens.
What’s actually happened so far is the club has released four players at the end of their contract, two of whom hardly contributed at all last season and we have released a player who we loaned for a year but who never actually played for us.
We have also signed a very good player, proven in the PL and who was recently a World Cup winner and who, at 24, is just starting to approach his peak years.
So far we are ahead of the game.
It’s fun (or should be) to speculate on what will happen but here is a general need for all of us to calm down, stop overthinking every rumour (whatever the crackpot source) and just try and get some enjoyment out of what the club’s doing (or trying to do) . After all we chose to support Liverpool and we should at least try to relax and enjoy the ride.

Ox and Keita have gone, it seems Matip is the new whipping boy.
Certain types of poster always need a figure to hate, when Matip has gone they'll probably return their attention to Jones, or one of the kids coming through.
Slagging players like Matip off makes them feel knowledgable, even when it's usualy proving the opposite.

If we’re going to react like this to every rumour this summer it’s going to be a very long summer indeed.
It’s almost certain Matip will leave this season or next.
For him to leave this season, we have to find someone who will pay a suitable transfer fee.

You are correct Navy Keith and it is a Rumours page after all.
For me if the club want rid of Matip and Thiago then let them go on a free. I can’t see many clubs willing to pay a fee for both players with the wages they are on (circa £15 million a season) .
That’s not to say the club ARE looking to offload both players, personally I would at least let Thiago go (£200,000 a week)

I don’t think Konate is average at all, I see him as a bit injury prone for sure. I’m also a fan of Matip but I also realise that he has possibly run his course at Liverpool and sooner or later the team needs to upgrade, a bit like we didn’t do with our midfield last season. I would see Gomez if we could get a good fee.
Where are these strong emotions WDW2? All I can see are opinions and rumours ?♂️. Isn’t that what this page is for?

If we release a player still in contract doesn’t that mean we have to pay them out of their remaining contract.
So if Matip is on 6 mill a year and Thiago 9 mill then we would have to pay them that to leave, meaning they play no games for us over paying them that same fee over the season to still contribute and be available for selection.
