Ed002, I was wondering if any clubs have tried to get Modric on a short term deal, I would like him at Liverpool however he isn't the kind of signing Liverpool tend to do, but I think he'd be an excellent edition on a 1 year contract, so he can teach our youngsters and maybe even be a Milner replacement.

{Ed002's Note - He has options but not Liverpool.}

He wouldn’t cut it in the premiership at his age unless he’s going to play a handful of games.

I think modric would be a great addition on a short term deal, remember when we signed Gary Mac. What a great signing that turned out to be.

I'd take him in a heartbeat if wages sensible.

Absoutely! With the wages we will free up from departures he is a no brainer. Id have him over Naby, Thaigo, Hendo, Milly, Arthur, in a heartbeat. At 36 he is still contolling games at the highest level. A character like him would be amazing to have around the likes of Bajetic, Carvallo, Elliot, who are young petite technical players. I know Thiago is helping Stefan but he is always injured and Modrid is stil a different level. Obviously wouldn't play 90 mins in every game.

Modric? Are we an old folks home? Masters football was created for that kind of thing.

Are our experienced players (Hendo, Milly, Thiago, Fabinho) and coaches so crap that we cannot nurture talents like Bajcetic, Elliott and Carvalho without bringing in a 38 year old Modric?

What is the point of paying Klopp, Lijnders and Matos and what is the point of keep our current experienced players around?

Modric is some player. Would love to know his “distance covered” stats of late compared to some other PL midfielders. Right up there with David Silva for me ?.

I'd take him over any of our midfielders PegLeg 100%.

FlyPelicanFly- I totally see your point and I don't think anyone here is suggesting we go for Modric instead of Bellingham, or even a Nunes/ Laimer type midfielder. I'm just saying he would be a nice to have for a year or two. He still dictates play at the highest of levels and not always with the finest players around him as we saw even recently with Croatia. I'm also not saying he will be taking training sessions but he would be a stand out character to have around given what he's achevied in the game. I'm just saying with Klopp insisting on giving Adrian, Milly, Bobby, Hendo extensions, Id much rather Modric on a short term deal. He would also be far greater use of wages than Ox, Naby, and Arthur.

Modric is still the best midfielder in Europe. I wouldn't think twice. He may well be 37 but he still ran rings around our team and burned past 18 year old Bajcetic with the ball at his feet. Just think about this; Modric is the only player who took the Balon D'or off of Messi and Ronaldo in their prime years. That is the level of player we're talking about here. On a short term contract he'd be brilliant.

I highly doubt he'd waste his last years in a transition period with us though.

I agree he made our midfield look like statues. I would take him a heartbeat.

He was better that KDB but not now, still top clas though.

Guys he is 37. Come on, need to get a grip.
FSG take 5 years to even think about replacing someone.

Would rather Ramsey from Villa.

Wouldn’t cut it in the prem, hilarious. Seems absolutely fine cutting it in La Liga and in the champions league, which they win every year.

Sell Thiago Hendo and don’t re-sign Milly and then we can have a convo about Modric.

22 Mar 2023 16:50:06
Not really one for the future is he?

{Ed025's Note - that would depend on whether or not you owned a old folks home WDW.. :)

Liverpool fans: Our midfield is too old, we need younger players!

Also Liverpool fans: Can we sign a 38 year old?

16.) 22 Mar 2023
22 Mar 2023 17:29:08
The question was would you sign Modric on a one year deal! Of course. No one is suggesting he is the future but it’s very unlikely we will find 3 midfield starters within our price range.

17.) 22 Mar 2023
22 Mar 2023 18:16:12
LFC would break him he’d go from hero to zero in no time the injuries we’d give him ??.

22 Mar 2023 18:01:39
Ed025 if you’re looking for a new home you don’t need to use modric as an excuse, I am sure wdw homes will house you!

{Ed025's Note - im not there just yet waqas, but it wont be long i feel mate.. :)

reds on this site saying our midfield are old. legs have gone yet want a 37 year old really?
given he is a great player but come reds let's get real.

22 Mar 2023 21:23:20
Love people saying he wouldn’t cut it in the premier league when he recently made a certain premier league midfield look like amateurs. Regardless of age he’s be a no brained for me, not that’s it’s going to happen mind.

21.) 23 Mar 2023
23 Mar 2023 01:54:45
Why don’t we buy someone who is, say, 19 and has the potential to make Modric look average?

22.) 23 Mar 2023
23 Mar 2023 13:20:16
Of course if you can find a 19 year old that makes Modric look average then snap him up WDW.

{Ed077's Note - there's no one that can make Modric look an average midfielder. NO ONE

23.) 23 Mar 2023
23 Mar 2023 21:51:53
Find a 19 year old who makes Modric look average. Say no to drugs fella.

Eh, if you read what I wrote, rather than what you thought you read you’ll see I used the word potential in there somewhere.

One season of Modric playing half the games and lasting for 60-70 minutes or a kid who has the potential to be (one of) the best in the world in 2 or 3 years if coached by Klopp.

Imagine the comments as soon as Modric has a bad game … Too old, too slow for PL, waste of money, why aren’t we playing Baj / the youngsters, we should have spent the money on Bellingham and the like. But I suppose that could never happen.
