So there are two explanations for this.

1) I was replying to another thread, got bored of my own reply (! ) and went to press 'close' but pressed reply instead. So I immediately posted to the same thread again explaining what had happened and asking the eds to delete my reply. As this was around the time of the window closing, and the eds were just coming to the end of 127 hour shifts, I think they thought it would be funny to post my aborted reply as a rumour instead. Or;

2) In an alternative reality lives an almighty Oracle named 'O'. He reigns supreme and knows everything about everything, and he's also a part time rodeo clown. His knowledge, however, is only absolute as long as he is believed by all. Even just one doubter dents his power and makes his knowledge imperfect. Therefore, we are all required to pay homage and state fealty to the great 'O' on a weekly basis. However, to complicate matters, 'O's immediate superior is 'L' (or 'Likely Source of All Rumours' to give him his full name) . So believing in 'L' means you automatically believe in 'O' too. Essentially, swearing fealty to 'L' is a labour saving option as 'O' still gets reflected glory.

Up to you which one you choose to believe 😀😀.
