He's an ideal shelvey replacement,

I meant The Brazlian kid mate.

{Ed002's Note - Sorry - I am sure that there will be another loan for Allan in January with, I understand, interest from two Swiss sides. There is a chance that he might be able to get a work permit later in 2016 - getting called in to the International U20 side would be a significant boost. But even that could be touch and go and if he doesn't get one then there is a problem in that he could end up not being eligible to play as a home grown player - then we are in to a big decision being made. Right now Liverpool is not well structured for looking after such players - something I would hope that they can address – but the addition of Grujic makes Allan’s long-term future as a Liverpool player in doubt.}

Caulker is decent in the air. But I worry we never learn. Always recruiting players who cannot make a meaningful difference. Why bother. I mean why sign yet another player we will not see until next season. The window in Jan should be about what we need now not next season!

He's just a back up so why worry, and he will probably not get a game or a very least one or two. Sakho and Lovren are a week away from full fitness so Caulker is just back up.
Ilori isn't fit enough yet but will undoubtedly get his chance under Klopp.

He probably won't be with us next season Mr Luke, it's an emergency loan until end of the season!

He was great for Swansea in his their first season in the prem. Good in the air and carries the ball out of defence well.

Needs regular games and he will be a good addition and a great squad player at Liverpool.

I am really confused at the level of hysteria about Caulker LOAN.
It is obvious we have some major problems in defenders injury list, and rather than rush people back and risk further injury Caulker provides a cheap option with EPL experience to plug the gap and give us breathing space.
I know he is not a quality defender, but can do a job while they get our defenders back to FULL fitness.
Good god, anyone would think we just offered him a 5 year £150,000 a week deal and a future coaching role.
He's cheap, has EPL experience and will be used here and there. We are playing in 4 cups right now after all.

It is important to have a experienced centre back as cover considering we have had to switch Lucas to the back 4 in 2 games. I think it's a no brainer. He's good in the air and as most say it's not the case we have spent a fortune on a long term contract for him.

I'm baffled as to why so many people are questioning this signing. Especially if the matip pre contract rumours are credible. We don't have any youngsters who are ready to step in at cb, and he has to be better than Enrique. I think it's a shrewd bit of business. I don't see us making any other signings and am happy with that! Onwards and upwards.

Only other signing might be a lefty forward. Jese (although Arsenal are also interested) or Rossi perhaps. Those would also be loans because quite simply we have NO spare cash right now.
Caulker is the best we could get on loan since Subotic preferred a permanent move. I'm actually hopeful Caulks can prove his doubters wrong and have a good few months. 2013-2015 he was actually pretty good and well regarded for the most part. We really could do a lot worse and, considering our options there, the fans should be pretty content. Would any Eds agree?

{Ed002's Note - Not at all.}
