I wonder if he got his mum to call because he was to embarrassed to do it himself?
My favourite excuse I often use is this. "I'm sorry but I can't come in today because I'm really sick!"
"How sick are you?"
"Well, right now I'm in bed with my mother and sister!!"

I know it will never happen but I would love to see Sterling play for reserves for the next two seasons (assuming he recovers from his illness).
Whatever happens from here on, his reputation has taken a massive dent. Most likely irrecoverable.
From a fan's point of view, I would have been gutted 12 months ago. But his heart hasn't been with Liverpool since then and his performances have declined as a result.
It's a shame but that's football I guess.

Come on City, please make another bid asap so we can pack the lads bags. Shocking disloyalty and betrayal by weakening the clubs bargaining position. Feck off Raheem and good riddance. I hope he goes on a nitrous oxide bender, gets sacked by City and ends up in the Chinese Super League.

Yeah, probably "sick" of listening to Rodgers' waffle and spiel!
Definitely conduct unbecoming that of a professional, conduct unbecoming of a player desperate to leave? . arguably not.
On the surface this would look a simple case of a young ill-advised and somewhat petulant player wanting to leave but I believe that this runs a lot deeper, with Rodgers (rather then the Club itself) being at the heart and root of the problem . and if the walls could speak I'm sure they would reveal that other players are unhappy and disenchanted with the "Enamelled one", a subject that from memory I think ED01 eluded to some time back.
The owners had the option to get rid of Rodgers but instead decided to "back" him and as such virtually ensured that Sterling would go (once someone offered a fee equivalent to their valuation) . their decision, and they (as well as us, the supporters) will have to live with it, only time will tell if it was the correct decision. as with time things move on, Sterling will, and so will the club, will I loose any sleep over it? (no not really, just disappointed Rodgers kept his job), as I'm sure Sterling definitely won't!
