Did anyone see the replay of the tackle on Gakpo? Officiating at its finest.

Please for those of us who enjoy the win but also look at small areas we can improve here we go.

After the goals especially in the 35 minute upward we returned to the old self of playing too safe.

I checked stats of the game and we had no clear cut chances created.

I know Wirtz is a good player and people rate him but for now I don't think he is imposing himself on games; too passive for a guy known for creating chances.

Very promising performance last night, especially first half.

Isak looked like the Newcastle player we bought for the first time.

Gakpo looks like he cares again and has been our best player so far this season.

Munoz looks full of energy on the right. Just needs to improve final pass.

Defence looked more solid with Araujo at RB.

Mac Allister looks like he cares again and covered the pitch better.

Just need Wirtz & Soboz to find their form now.

Team looking more like a unit and excited about AI's coaching going forward. Much better post match press chat from him too. Can't wait to see more of Barcola.

Amazing what a win and good performance can do for team and fan confidence.

Have a good weekend fellow reds.

Great win last night. A select few are looking for negatives. There are no easy games in the Premier League. Let's take a win away from home and a clean sheet and enjoy Match of the Day for a change. Loads of work to do, obviously, but celebrate when you do well. 💪

Wirtz needs to really improve. You can't lose the ball as many times as he did last night. One or two moments isn't good enough over 90 minutes.
I'm hoping he becomes our player of the season but there's times he looks far too soft and lightweight.

He does lose the ball but he is always looking for possession and will take the ball in tight spaces creating space for others. He can improve his pressing and passing but I think he gets far too much stick.

Just an opinion, isn’t it my value now but still wanted to put it out there! Wirtz with so much hype, isn’t half the player Coutinho was! Yes, he took his time the first season, but after that he was almost always up there with passing, dribbling, pressing, even tackling and strength! I know different managers, different playing styles, but was just thinking that so wanted to share!
Hoping Wirtz picks up the pace and shines

Much better performance last night despite the expected drop off in the second half due to the intensive nature of the training currently. I thought Araujo played with great enthusiasm but he does come across as being a bit rash. And from what I have gleaned from our first few matches is that teams clearly see the right side of our defence as a weakness and something which they have looked to exploit, whether with Frimpong with balls to the back post or last night with Araujo and Jaquet with some of the balls in behind. Just my take on things.

What I do like about Araujo is that he clearly loves to get stuck in and there's an element of physicality about him which we clearly have missed over the last few years. Not being dirty but not afraid to leave his boot in if required.

Maybe he was a bit rash as the gameplan for Ipswich was to target our RB? I thought he had a very good game, as you said he added some physicality which we severely lack. Apart from that clearance that could've gone anywhere, he was reliable throughout.

The big Uruguayan will only get better as he gets used to a new team, culture, country, tactics, teammates, food etc etc..I have no doubts about him and he will make his detractors eat humble pie I think.

100% ed, that's exactly what we need right now. Everything about him is what we missed last season, fight, determination, aggression and leadership. I think he could prove to be a very shrewd signing this season, even if only on loan.

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - I’m trying to forget last season mate. The Salah stuff still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. How we treated a guy who gave us 9 years of his peak footballing life is reprehensible. A guy as Melisa Reddy correctly opines never wanted to leave Liverpool like most of the modern greats we had. Evidence of this is salah always signed contracts to stay. I would have loved to have seen a Salah, Barcola & Isak front 3. Maybe it wasn’t possible because of PSR to keep salah I don’t I know but he would be better than Frimpong on the right..don’t mind me I’m just being sentimental and missing the Egyptian king. Talk about Arajou giving us fight Salah gave it to us in droves.

Who gets dropped for Barcola then? As Gakpo and Munoz are both playing well. Does Gakpo go into the 10 and drop Wirtz?

It’s a 16 man game so no one gets dropped from last night's starting 11.

Great performance last night and good to see them gel together properly for the first time.
Gakpo has been pure class so far this season - twice the player he was last year, and he seems to be enjoying his football more.
Isak looked exactly like the player he was at Newcastle, and those goals will have erased his demons.
Araujo looks solid, and a very good move, not just a back-up man.

Jaquet was great and so far is proving an upgrade to Konate.
Barcola will be perfect for us with some real glimpses of his pace and skill.
The others all played well too, with some great overlapping play, and lots of chasing down.
Nice not to find any real negatives for a while!
Looking forward to the next game.

Totally agree…… A really good performance last night. It’s gonna take a while for them to get up to speed with Iraola’s tactics etc.
But all in all, very positive signs.
And despite some people's opinions of Wirtz…… I still think he’s a brilliant young player and he’ll show it this season.
