Robbo has to be swapped out for a lcb and I think he will go into rotation on the left because he's such a devastating attacker. That's got to be in the thinking. I just don't believe right now we have a better option.

Also need trent to be fit otherwise then it just falls apart with gomez as a cdm haha which is insane. Be better to switch it with 3 cbs starting with gomez at rb and move robbo into the middle as some flying Scotsman. He's fast and a good defender. Anyway this season will be fun.

If the plan is to continue with 2 cbs and no cdm alongside gomez then we are just asking for trouble.

Attacking wise it is unreal but its one of those where we could get 8-2'd. Random score but we are going 1-0 down and conceeding 5 good chances before we have got started.

That can't happen against a lot of teams. Plus it's going to ware some of the players to the bone before crimbo, with the sheer amount of, additional, space they're having to cover.

Also game schedule is off the charts this season. Faith remains with the results but in my opinion we are asking for trouble. So my question is, is this tactic to play 2 cbs with robbo as a flying winger or is that because of options and we want a LCB? - imagine if we had Saliba though. Anyway.

Robbo’s forays as a flying winger are few and far between these days. He can be a good defender but has a habit of failing to stop the cross coming in from his side. He needs to be careful about his place. Klopp must surely notice that a central defender who can play wide when going into a back three would do that job much better than Robbo.

I think Robbo can still do a job in home games, but I would like to see Konate, Matip and Virgil as a three, if we are going to carry on with Trent in the hybrid role. I think Gravenberch and Dias both have the engine to work back, if we get stretched on the left, likewise, Mo and Dom could do the same on the right.
I agree that we need a new LCB, but until we get one I would like us to go with 3 big lads plus Trent, especially in away games. Quansa, Joe and maybe Chambers could rotate in the cups.
I would say our strongest 11 playing the box 4 formation would be AB in goal Konate, Matip and Virgil, Trent and Mac, Dom and Ryan, Diaz Darwin and Mo. The 3 at the back will give us more stability in away games and the 5 up front would be frightening in transition,

IMO, Robbo will eventually get phased out due to his agae and mileage at some point. Will that be now, I do not think so cos he is still performing a a good (maybe no longer consistently great) level right now so let's see what the next TW's bring.

I said this in the summer and got called out for it. Personally I love Robbo and would prefer us to play 4 at the back with attacking fullbacks as we always have and Trent in midfield but for whatever reason that’s not what we are doing. We are sticking with this nuts inverted system and as long as we are we might as well try and do it with players in a natural position. The system simply doesn’t leave a place for Robbo, Tsimikas or any natural fullback in the system anymore we might as well get what we can for him. Nothing personal of course but there no room for sentiment.
As noted above we might as well play Gomez there:
Ali
Konate-VVD-Gomez
Trent-Endo
Szlob-Jones
Salah-Nunez-Diaz.

I don't see robbo being phased out. Klopp has the history to surgest robbo will be given a new contract once his current one is near to its end.
