Hey ed01. Hope you are well? What’s your opinion on De Zerbi over at Brighton? Early days obviously and you can never really tell this early if a team is on a manager bounce or if he is riding on the coattails of what Potter built there, but he does seem a very passionate manager who has quickly got Brighton playing some bloody good football that is both high intensity and effective in possession, almost a perfect blend of us and City, well before we went rubbish anyway. I want Klopp to turn us around but if he doesn’t De Zerbi might be a good option? What do you think as I honestly hadn’t heard of him before he came to England, ignorant on my part. Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - he was brought in because of the way he plays but personally I would avoid him. I think he says too much, is far too open with the media regarding things that should be kept private. You only end up upsetting players and causing divisions in the squad in the long term.}

Would agree with Ed on this, not sure I like what I hear in the media from him. But he is a very good coach who will go on to bigger and better things than Brighton.

I would be cautious of anyone from Brighton, player or manager. The club is a well oiled machine set up to be greater than the sum of its parts by the ownership. Everyone from the players to the back office staff are hand picked to fit exactly what they want to do.

How many have actually left Brighton and really kicked on in another environment?

Graham Potter - failed
Cucurella - failed
Bissouma - failed
Maupay - never looked very good but nowhere near this bad
Ben White - probably the only one who's done well, very good right back but even still, he's not good enough as a centre back for Arsenal.

Thomas could say the same about players who have left us. Also forgot about trossard who is doing well. Also think Potter was set up for failure at Chelsea although didn’t help himself at times. Think their model and style of play is more similar to ours.

Forgot all about Trossard to be fair, he's been brilliant. But yeah good point on players leaving us recently.

Thanks Ed. Is there any manager out there who you think would do well to take over from Klopp, whether that be sooner or, hopefully, later?
I personally thought Potter would be good Chelsea form aside. Maybe Nagelssman (spelling) but I’m really not sure who could follow Jurgen.

{Ed001's Note - those two you mentioned, maybe Amorim. There is not really anyone out there like Klopp though that stands out as the right man.}

{Ed002's Note - I think Julian Nagelsmann would be a very good fit but he is the preferred choice of the Technical Director at Chelsea, so we will see what happens there. Rúben Amorim would be an excellent choice. Xabi Alonso perhaps further down the linbe - he is doing well at Bayer Leverkusen but will need to sustain it. I have never been convinced by Pep Lijnders. Arne Slot will get an offer from a leading side at some point.}

De Zerbi has won an Italian 3rd division cup with Foggia and a Ukranian cup with Shakhtar. Not a chance. No doubt he’s a good manager but for Brighton not for us. Has to take an extra step between Brighton and Liverpool for me.
