What happened performance wise in the first half in spain MUST not be allowed to happen again for the rest of the season, if it does we sadly will only have the league cup to show for our efforts and that would be a footballing travesty.

We played badly, got away with it, recovered superbly 2nd half and kept the quadruple dream alive.

Luis diaz: i confess i knew very little about him prior to liverpool signing him but he is everything you want from a new signing, he has breathed new life into our attack and like the last luis we had up front once he finds his shooting boots his numbers will be even more impressive.

He simply must start both finals.

I am torn as to who i want to face in the final, revenge on Madrid would be sweet but beating city in Paris, Money could not buy the joy that would bring, denying them the one trophy they truly crave, nothing would top that feeling.

Would a defeat to madrid crush city enough so they drop points? albeit that seems unlikely, however if you had told me at the start of the season, lfc would play 64 games i would have thought you was mad so i shall rule nothing out.

From doubters to believers: i shall never doubt this team again whilst Jurgen Klopp is in charge and although i am biased the man deserves to have more trophies next to his name to cement his undoubted legacy, how he has transformed this club, united the fan base is immeasurable, a once in a lifetime manager and more importantly than that a incredible human being.

Paris here we come!

Over reach for me. You have to remember that there is another team on the pitch and we have 90mins to get a result. We didn’t let Villarreal do to us what we did to Barcelona, that’s the main thing.

We won the match and Villarreal, as you would expect in a CL semi-final, put up a fight. For 3/ 4’s of the two legs we bossed the match.

Every single team ever has never been 100% perfect for 100% of games. We found a way to win not only the tie but both legs coming back from 2 -0 down to win the away leg. 3 - 2.

Emery knows what he is about and he had them set up to give it a crack and they got off to a flying start - fair play to them. It would have obviously been better if they’d have just rolled over and died but hey-ho they didn’t.

The good thing is we showed character not only to stop them but also to turn it around and beat them.

Tell you what, if we are 2 - 0 down in the Final at half time they hav shown that they can still turn it around. Not a bad game at all from that perspective.

Some fans think other clubs should roll over for us. The credit goes to Villareal for making Liverpool uncomfortable in the first half. They didn't give the team one second to put a foot on the ball. There were mistakes all over the pitch by all the players. Fair play to them and fair play to Liverpool for actually winning the game. A great semi final if you ask me.

The commentator did my head in. He was going on as though we were behind in the tie. We were never behind in the tie.
Villareal put a lot into that first half and we were very poor.
It was likely that they couldn't put as much into the second half- especially when they levelled the tie- and that we were going to improve.
I've got to give credit to Klopp for the half time change. Diaz improved us massively and he left Keita on. I was calling for Keita to be subbed but he was miles better in the second half.
I shouldn't doubt our manager, haha.

I feel the players where guilty of thinking the tie was done and dusted after the first leg.
Not likely to see a performance like that in a final.

I agree Irish Rover. It's funny, a lot of people on here talk about how teams just roll over for City, and how they can't fathom that none of the teams ever put up a fight. Yet, that's what they want for Liverpool and the teams we meet.

I think a few players had let the media get into their heads. Doesn't matter how much Jurgen (or any other) would have 100% prepared them for the fact, that this was far from over. Everybody else seemed to think that the final was in the bag, and no matter how professional you are, all that talk will be in the back of your head. Villareal put up an amazing first half, very well drilled. As is expected from a CL semi-final away match. And we were not ready mentally. However, the players did extremely well to get back out and turn it around.

There are no easy games left, but let's go for them all!

OP, chill out bro. The other guys on the other team get paid too so save the lectures for another day. Villareal are a very good team who got to this stage on their merit and if you thought they would just let us to batter them in a CL semi-final at home then, you did that on your own. Villareal were absolutely brilliant and had they pulled it off, they would have deserved it. Show some respect to the opposition, pls.

We did not take them for granted and they battered us in that first half, no question. Also, BIG shout out to my G Gerrard Moreno who showed great courage and battled on in a game where he knew he could barely walk when he was taken off. We take the win and move on to Spurs. Enjoy the rest of the season.
