Elliott looked decent today Ed001, do you think he is only playing right of a midfield 3 because of lack of other options at the minute? Surely he is better suited to one of the front 3. Do you think he is disciplined defensively enough to play on midfield?

{Ed001's Note - it will be either because Klopp wants him to learn something from playing there for his long term benefit or because they see that as the place best suited to his talents. I think he is best suited to playing in the centre as a false 9 type personally, but I can see a real benefit to putting him into midfield. He is a lot more disciplined defensively than Wijnaldum ever was, so I don't see that as a problem, at least he won't hide for 90minutes.}

I agree with Ed, the Bobby Role would suit Harvey. I also think playing in the 8, as he is at the moment will bring his game on a ton. You can see the lad wants to play for the badge and that's what I love too see. I know he's not a local lad but he's been brought up a red and I can see this lad being loved by the fans.

{Ed001's Note - how can you not love a lad that gets invited to look round Real Madrid with a view to signing and tells them he doesn't want to meet Ramos because he had hurt Salah?}

Couldn't get him off the pitch at full time, he literally clapped to the crowd for a good 5 solid minutes. There is a lad living his absolute dream.

Agree 100%. He went back out to the fans after the game yesterday and spent time taking photos and signing autographs. The lads living the dream.

Fully agree, Ed01. The first thing I thought of was exactly that as in, Klopp is playing HE in the 8 cos there is something he is trying to teach him for his overall benefit and the first thing was his discipline and defensive awareness when out of possession cos we know he is very creative thru the middle BUT in a Klopp midfield system, that is just a small part of his requirements.

I think this will help him a lot if he indeed switches to the center cos his defensive awareness and positioning is already pretty good. And that quote from him that he wouldn't sign for RM cos Ramos injured Salah? Priceless.

Ed001 before that start of preseason I would not have him in midfield but he looks great there Ed some of the through balls his put through all ready you can see he is going to give us something different in there. I think the lad could play anywhere from midfield to the front 3 but I think some of his natural physical attributes would probably go against him further forward. Out wide he just has not got that extra bit of pace and for me a little short so not going to be good enough in the air to play down the middle. I think we see that with Jota up the compared to Bobby, who holds the ball up so well and is a lot better in the air than what most people think. But as a number 8 I do think Elliott could be truly world class. And playing with players like Thiago Milner I don’t think he could have to better role models.

I missed the friendly, and never saw Elliott at Blackburn either, so I can’t wait to see him in the very near future.
Am slightly apprehensive if he’s played in midfield, that’s possibly the one area of the pitch with the highest attrition rate for injuries, but I’m sure that the staff will look after him.

Klopp said himself playing Harvey in midfield during pre-season is good opportunity for him to round out his game.

Hope Harvey keeps getting given opportunities, and more importantly, really hope he takes the chances.
