I was thinking this morning about Henderson's Liverpool career and how close we've come on multiple occasions with him in the side.

He was a part of the Dalglish team who won the 2012 League Cup. However he was also a major part of our runners up campaigns in the 2012 FA Cup, the 2014 Title challenge, the 2015 League Cup, the 2015 Europa League, the 2018 Champions League and now the 2019 Title challenge. He's played well over 300 games for us across 7 years at the club and it looks like there is more to come yet.

I just hope that come Sunday morning he has put his name into the debate for "legend" status and the last 7 years of being runner up are well and truly put to bed.

The club has done a good job managing his injury more so now that he is playing more attacking. great player and far better in this role than playing as a holding mid.

Good post bread.

Henderson deserves to lift a big trophy for liverpool.

He had the massive task of following Gerrard's captaincy and then having to sacrafice his natural game to play the holding role. He always gives a 100% every time he crosses the line and he respects what it means to plays for liverpool.

Hes a proffessional in every sense of the word.

Im glad he's getting to show what he can do a bit further foward because he's showing a lot of the doubters he's had what a good footballer he is.

There's never been a bad player that has lifted the champions league trophy and if liverpool can win what i suspect will be a very entertaining final that certainly won't be the case with henderson either.

Just keeping the fingers crossed that liverpool hendo and klopp get over the line.

Graham Souness, Kenny Daglish, Kevin Keegan, Alan Hansen are Liverpool legends but Henderson is not. Certainly a good player but all the cups you have mentioned he has finished up as runner up except for one trophy. Unfortunately losers are never remembered and when Henderson retires I don’t think he will take any pride in finishing runner up for those years!

It tells me that he's a jinx and that he shouldn't be in the team.
Seriously though, I'd be most pleased for him and Milner should we win.

Agree with your general point Pino35, but if Henderson lifts the European Cup as Liverpool captain he joins a very select group of players then.
And that elevates him to “legend” status imho.

If and a big if, we win this champions league, win the league next year something Gerrard never did so he would be a legend 😂.

I am with Wolverine
Henderson is a good player and a great guy.
Souness Daglish Rush Barnes Fowler Smith Dudek and Gerrard in my legends list.
There are a few of the current squad that could become legends VDV and TAA come to mind.

By the rationale of winning trophies makes you a legend then djimi traore and Bernard Diomede are legends.

It's not just about what you win, lots of rubbish players win trophies. To be a in legend its about what you commit and sacrifice in pursuit of those trophies. It's about what kind of an influence on the team you are.

To measure status based on trophies isn't fair I don't think. Some players are just unlucky enough to play for a team during an unproductive period. I'd use le tissier as a good example.

Don’t think that Traore or Diomede were Liverpool captains, Nevada.
That in itself is a special honour so any comparison with Hendo is utterly misplaced.

Bloody well said, plain bread.

He will lift it on saturday, i know it. I can't wait to see it. And you are spot on: He then has legend status. They'll all be legends but Hendo is a true great of the modern game. People need to stop looking southwest at spain and thinking they have the best league in the world. Ours is the best. They have a two horse race, with the very occasional surprise. Then there' s 3/ 4 teams who can play but the rest are not at the level of our mid to top table teams.

Ive always been a massive Henderson fan and cannot fathom people who say he's average. He is one of the best midfielders the premier league has seen in the last few years. He played the holding role with stoic determination, never wandered off, never tried to roam forwards when it wasnt necessary. Now he has the freedom to get forward, he is such a clever player in and around that box. Him trent and salah are going to turn rose in circles, trust.
He fights until the last minute, never seen his head drop. Not once.

We're in the European Cup final and im not even nervous. Last season i was climbing the walls. Chelsea are a better team than arsenal. So, they beat them. Liverpool are a better side than spurs (by a bigger margin than arsenal/ Chelsea) and we're going to win.

Dont get me wrong before you all start saying "don't disrespect the opposition" I like spurs, as a team, the way they play. They have some wonderful players. Son and Ericson. Kane and vertongen. But, its not happening for em on saturday. We are going to outplay them for the whole game, win comfortably, score plenty of goals. Im going for 5 1 to us. When it was spurs and not ajax, i knew we were in the red kit.

Like someone has said, spurs rarely beat us. I know they're dangerous. They are going to try and get physical once they realise they can't outplay us. And that plays perfect for us, freekicks galore.

I reckon Van Dijke is going to get the opener.
