ED002 if I may ask,
I have seen reports today linking us with a move for Palhinha from Fulham. Has there been any sustained interest from lfc in him. I know Bayern looked odds on and probably still are but can you see lfc making a move for him or can I put this down to the.

{Ed002's Note - Joao Palhinha (DM/CM) Only moved 18 months ago and Fulham will not look to sell unless a huge offer is made and the player asks for a move. All interest except that of Bayern Munich, Arsenal and possibly Newcastle will have gone with the signing of a new contract although Manchester United and Liverpool have had a will respected ex PL and high-end independent scout watch the player on their behalf - although both have other targets. Fulham will still look to replacements as they fear the player could have his head turned by Bayern Munich or Arsenal, who see him as an option to Trindade, who Fulham are also keen on.}

Palhinha to start now and help us be successful while Bajcetic develops for 2 or 3 seasons with let pressure would be ideal.

Fulham still want over £50m for him, which is stupid money for a player who’s going to be 29 soon. He’s not got many miles left on the clock and would be a terrible signing long term. He’s not the most mobile or quick as it is and that’s not going to improve the closer he gets to 30, he’s the kind of stupid signing United make who then struggle to get rid when it doesn’t inevitably work out (see Casemiro, Verane etc) . There’s far better value for that kind of money out there.

30+ Danny? Isn't Palinha 28?

Don’t we want £200m for someone over the age of 30 @VV? Age is just a number.

Palhinha is 29 this season. There’s no mileage in a player that will be 30 next season.

As for comparing Palhinha and Salah, that’s like comparing apples to oranges, Salah is a generational world class talent, whereas with due respect to Palhinha, he is not and never will be. And age isn’t just a number, as we found out last season, having ageing slowing midfielders is not a recipe for success. For that money we can get someone younger with some longevity, a quick fix for stupid money on players at that age is what United do. And it always fails.

Palhinha is 28 but hasn’t really played that many minutes for a 28 year old. He’s played less than Trent for example. I don’t think he's someone who’ll start slowing down for quite a while yet.

Bit pedantic but yea he is 29 next year and as viktor says it could be a expensive mistake in the near future, under fsg we don't have the cash to buy are way out of mistakes like other clubs sadly or it could be a good deal for a few seasons.

{Ed002's Note - perhaps Liverpool should look to their actual targets then.}
