With our interest in Andre hiw difficult would it be signing him with the part ownership? Is it something that can easily be sorted out or just a really tricky deal from the start.

{Ed002's Note - Not an option right now.}

Well what a joke of a transfer window by LFC. Not only do I blame FSG in all this but Klopp has to take his fair share of blame.
Fuming at my club is an understatement at the moment an absolute shambles and embarrassment.

Whitewalker… as everyone you are entitled to a voice but I have to say the endless tiresome comments on this site by some calling the club a shambles and embarrassing is the reason I too will be having a break from this site
Way to negative for me
We all support the club in so many different ways and the reason I come on here is to read interesting insights and opinions by all and some great banter but this is not banter,
Someone this morning now wants to sell Mo because he was upset lol lol lol lol.
Transfer market is far from simple and a point away to Chelsea for the opening day of the season is a long way from a shambles and embarrassing
We must be doing ok in the market as we have some of the best players in the league and our results are brilliant for the money spent
? 5th, 2nd, 3rd, champions 2nd, 4th, 4th
Once the window closes and we have gelled a little more in our formation we will be a real force I believe
Take care all.

Some “fans” are embarrassing.

1971Reds, the whole Caicedo/ Lavia saga is a shambles. A heady mix of incompetence and negligence. Failing to check if the player had any interest in joining us before making a bid which he then refused to turn up to the medical. Keeping the bid there the whole weekend and dropping interest in Lavia, whilst Chelsea also did a deal for him too. And we dropped our interest over the amount that we paid in total for Arthur to spend time at our medical and rehabilitation facilities for a year, leaving us without either and still needing a defensive midfielder. Astoundingly poor from us.

As always, I fear we won't do enough in the window now. Not only was the rebuild started too late, we also are taking too long to sign players.

Liverpool will have met Caicedo's agent to find out if he is interested. As the Spurs manager said re Kane anybody who thinks clubs don't sound out a player before bidding are stupid. No club wants to look foolish, so maybe we were 2nd option. The club have moved on a number of players who clearly were not going to be the quality we needed and that's great. Chelsea are operating a very risky strategy in giving 7 year contracts and hoping if the player doesn't work out they can sell them on at a high price. Even if you amortised a players transfer fee over 8 years that means your initial investment is reducing more slowly so if a player after 3 years doesn't work out you still have to cover a large part of the initial fee in a transfer fee.
Clearly we have some issues to sort but we got a point away to our rivals, yes it would have been better to have won but we haven't lost, and we will get better. So stop moaning about what we haven't got and support what we have got.

1971 I agree it is the less than supportive fans that are the real embarrassment. the fans that seem to believe they understand the inner dealings and discussions, etc etc. The fans that fail to discuss the football and instead try to second guess the club in its chasing and negotiation. The fans that are quick to switch from one sentiment (negative) to another (positive) and back when they witness what they hear or see in their own heads rather than known reality. My word there are some stupid souls about! YNWA.

Ed002, you were spot on that LFC moved on from RL due to the valuation. You were also right about the FFP and PS nonsense that X'ers are fuming about, evident of Chelsea now wrapping up the deals for MC and RL.

Now that everyone has calmed down, are there new targets we are looking at? I read that we have Luis, Sangare, Gravenberch, Inacio, Pavard (maybe? ) .

I am sure LFC would have started doing something behind the scenes since last week during the impasse. Hope to hear some good updates (if any) .

{Ed002's Note - I think Lavia heads the list now and that Sangare might prove a worthwhile addition and would not lose sight of Gravenberch.}

Looking forward to ed2 laying the blow by blow of our failed pursuit of Caicedo! I don’t mind that he chose Chelsea over us and I am more than prepared to believe that he just didn’t want to break his word. I find it too easy to assume that he did it for the “wrong reasons” according to Liverpool fans.

The one thing I am interested in is how we approached the offer and whether we thought he would come. I’m not one to get into conspiracies so I tend to believe that we must have reached out and received at least a positive repose from Caicedo’s team but then that changed for whatever reason after Brighton accepted our bid. Sound about right Ed’s?

{Ed002's Note - It does.}

I think too many people play FIFA.

Until next time

The only thing I can ask FSG questions over is the recruitment team. I think they’ve got the wrong people in place there as recruitment has definitely deteriorated in recent years.

Darwin - where do we play him? Seems like a good player who doesn’t fit our system.

Jota - again, a player without a position in our system.

Our ageing midfield from last season, where was the succession planning?

Trent - where is his long term future? If it’s not RWB then we need a replacement.

We seem a bit rudderless in the recruitment stakes.

Klopp can’t do it all, if you want him to run recruitment then you need a new manager.
FSG don’t know enough about recruitment to run in, that’s why they employ others.

Whether it’s Mike Gordon, Billy Hogan or Jorg Schmadke, things have to improve dramatically because the current direction of travel is down.
