Anyone else get the feeling Mac Alister is holding out for another club, never known personal terms taking so long to agree, seemd a bit strange.

{Ed002's Note - The issue is not personal terms, it is agreeing a fee and add ons with Brighton - and critiocally how the fee will be paid.)

Seems Romano has said fee will be a lot lower than the 65/ 70 mill being reported. Would be great business if we get him cheaper than that. Knowing us we are probs trying to spread to fee over 5 years.

Mfahmee, I ve been hired to do the negotiation. FSG gave me 10 pounds and a packet of crisps.

I have the 10 pounds on the table with the Brighton board for hours now. I ve been using delay tactic after delay tactic to drag the meeting out. I emptied all the vending machines in the building and sabotaged the food in the kitchen. You can really sense the hunger in the room. Any minute now I'm going to hit them with that packet of crisps.

@Jota, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Liverpool trying to get the best deal they can when they are trying to buy or looking to sell a player. so, yes Liverpool try to get players ‘on the cheap’ as you put it.

The thing is Liverpool will have a maximum they are will to pay for a player and the club selling (in this case Brighton) will have a minim7m that they would be willing to accept. Obviously both sides will negotiate to try and get 5he best deal. It boils down to if Liverpool’s upper limit meets or is higher than Brighton’s lower limit. If it does, we have a deal, if it doesn’t then no deal. As Ed02 says there are sometimes other factors - Brighton might want, as an example, £60m and we might be willing to pay £60m but there might still be issues -Brighton might want, say, full payment in one instalment whereas we might want to pay instalments over a n7mber of years, which might mean the transfer doesn’t happen.

As has been said the window is nowhere near open yet so it’s probably best for everybody’s nerves and sanity to just wait and see what happens. After all, as the legendary Doris Day sang, ‘Tell me ma, me ma, I don’t want no tea, no tea’ or something along those lines.

According to a journo friend, the fee is now agreed with B&HA. Minor details of the payment schedule are to be ratified before the announcement next week.
