Coutinho hands in transfer request.

Gutted!

Cou's entourage made a huge mistake here. FSG has spoken and so has Klopp. They will not go back on their word cos they will look like mugs and trust me, Americans businessmen do not like to be made a fool of esp. in public. They have spoke and so has Klopp and in the end, Cou will lose and stay, IMO.

I would like to see Lallana back in midfield today with Hendo and Wiji. A front three of Coutinho, Firmino and Studge, with Lallana supporting should see the goals flow again.

I'm with you except I'd go for Can ahead of Wiji. He is much better with the discipline of Henderson next to him, assisting him with his positional awareness. Without Henderson, Can is a bit mindless.

Great game and a big win. Coutinho and Lallana were excellent, Can very good. Add Studge to the team and we are rocking again. Well done to BR and the team. Sorry if it spoilt the day for all you doom and gloom BR out whinging ####s

I thought i was the only one left that still believes in Rogers and want him to succeed at Liverpool.

2.) Well said mate .

3.) At the end of the day. i didn't want BR at all. But i still want him to succeed. Because that means that my team has also had success.

I cannot believe the number of so called supporters on here who, egged on by the Chelsea edd, are having a go at BR. How short are your memories? Have we not just had our best season in years, scoring goals with ease and playing the sort of fast paced attacking football that keeps you on the edge of your seats? Of course we had to buy additional players now we have Champions League football, abnd guess what not all of them will work out. If they did BR would be a miracle worker. As for the young lads, who I watch regularly playing for the U21's, if and when they are good enough they will get a chance under BR, until they are ready they will be loaned out to get valuable regular playing time.
BR has his faults and weaknesses, show me someone who doesnt, but he is a brilliant young manager and we are lucky to have him so stop bitching and start supporting. Rant over.

I agree mate. I seriously feel pity now. All this Becoz We loaned Ibe to derby?
The Irony is, We have a squad whose average age is 23, If that's not promoting youth, Then what is it?

2.) Here, here NRed!

3.) The issue is we're not using our youth players but taking others instead.

Manquillo is a great example. He's 4 months older than McLaughlin. Not 4 years, 4 months! How does it make any degree of sense to loan in a promising player 4 months older than a promising player we already have?

That doesn't mean Manquillo is bad or anything as individually he looks a tidy player- but so does McLaughlin and he would have cost exactly £0.

4.) 29 Aug 2014 18:21:22
RDL

McLaughlin is a fantastic potential. But Monquillo has looked excellent since arrival.

5.) Being Northern Irish and having played against and spoke to the lad before I'm all for Mclaughlin getting a chance but don't yous think the people who make these decisions at our club know what they're doing? Anyway from what I've heard from some people apparently they're convinced that the club are going to convert him back into a winger

6.) RDL why do you think you know better than BR and his coaching staff regarding which young players are good enough and mentally and physically ready for the first team?

I watch most of the U21 matches and other age groups and Liverpool have numerous players who shine at their age group. However the gulf between youth football and the premier league is absolutely massive. Can you name one of our lads who gave gone on loan and set the world alight? No nor can I, yet they are supposed to star for our first team. Have a bit of faith and let BR get on with his job. He has done us proud so far

7.) Well said NRed, there's a lot of sycophancy on here towards the Ed's by certain posters, you know who you are.

Some of the stick is uncalled for and totally unjustified. I honestly feel that if these players were tearing it up in training then they'd be closer to the first team.

8.) NRed
I totally agree with your original post
We still have a squad that is 'work in progress'
BR has admitted we have achieved Champions league ahead of schedule.
The squad as a whole will improve again this season.
I'm sure there will be some demanding BR goes if we don't win the league and Champions league this season.
A little patience is required I think

9.) 30 Aug 2014 15:38:12
Harry, I do not think Ed002 is referring to the average age of the squad. He is pointing out the money wasted on players that have not made any impact at the club since they arrived. For a club which is in heavy debt, spending money recklessly like BR has without giving too much of consideration to youth could be devastating unless we guarantee top 4 finishes for the forceeable future. Th club has simply overstocked so many players, with many not having even an assigned role or future at the club, so many players we are struggling to offload. Just imagine how much our wage bill has increased with all the players that have arrived.

10.) 30 Aug 2014 15:40:47
Manquillo is ready NOW while McClaughlin is NOT. He`s injury proan and is not eady for consisten first team football. I`m a huge fan of him, he needs games and sorry to tell you, Manquillo is more ready now so he gets the nod.

Also, people slating BR because Ed002 gave an opinion w/o bias are the reason I can`t stand some people on here. The Ed gave an opinion based oh his/her obsrvation and that's all, an OPINION and because of that, people are taking his/her side over BR.

BR is not perfect but I will NEVER dump him nor his good work over an opinion of another human being that can be challenged any day of the week. some patetic whiner we have as fans, in my OPINION.

11.) 30 Aug 2014 15:47:24
I agree, Boom, as I said Manquillo has looked good. It's more a question of where does it leave McLaughlin other than with the kick in the balls that Ed002 has mentioned?

If he's not good enough to be 3rd/4th choice RB behind the likes of Johnson, Flanagan, and Wisdom (granted he's also gotten go on loan sentence of death), then let him move on as otherwise it's wasting everyone's time and blocking a new player from game time at the U-21 level.

I don't have a problem replacing youth with outside youth, it just needs to be managed much better so we don't end up with this log jam of 18-22 year olds all sitting around trying to figure out what they're doing at Liverpool.

Last nights game really highlighted how important Danny Sturridge will be to the team this season, and how important it is that we bring a suitable replacement/ partner for him before the window closes.

Raheem was excellent again and Coutinho played well first half but the real threat that we had with Luis and Danny up front last year was again missing. I would love Lambert to do well for us, and still think he will contribute, but he definitely slows down our attacking play.

Still a good window for us so far. Lovren, Lallana, Markovic, and Moreno ( if he signs) will all add quality to last nights squad. I know we will have Origi joining us in a year, and again he looks a brilliant prospect, but we can't afford to not sign another striker to take some of the weight off Danny's shoulders if we are going to really challenge on multiple fronts this year.

When does Klopp's position come under scrutiny? Our midfield is non existent, our defence is still shockingly poor and our goalkeepers are embarrassing.

No if City win the Capital one and qualify for Champions league then the Europa spot goes to the next highest finisher in the league that hadn't already qualified, if that makes sense.

Ed sorry I promise I'll shut up after this. I certainly don't think my view/ opinion is superior to yours or anyone else's. I'll leave you in peace to carry on your good work with the sitE.

NRed

{Ed002's Note - No problem, have a great day.}

Ed I apologise if the way I write makes me come across as an arse, I certainly don't mean to be and am never abusive to you or other posters. Unfortunately I just don't agree with you on a number of issues and I have just tried to put forward my view. Sorry if I have offended you in doing so. I'll keep any controversial views to myself in future

NRed

{Ed001's Note - I wasn't asking you to keep your views to yourself. I was just wondering why it is that you think your views are so superior that I am not allowed to disagree with them? Especially when you have a dig at me claiming I am not allowing you to have a different viewpoint. Fine, do what you want though. If you are that sensitive you are better off not bothering anyway.}

Ed001 sorry for voicing an opinion that differs to yours. I foolishly thought that we were all entitled to one.

I didn't pick a quote I relayed part of a conversation that I had with Steve Highway. I was, obviously unsuccessfully, trying to get the point over that the youth system in England in general does not work well, not just Liverpool's and there are many reasons for that and surprisingly they are not all Brendan Rodgers fault. Ed how many of our young players who have been "Brendaned" or "Rafa'd" as per your reply have become stars elsewhere? I would love to see some of our youngsters come through and given a chance but the pressure and expectation put on them by the media, managers and particularly fans is immense. Look at the abuse Lucas and Hendo received from some of our more knowledgable supporters when they came into the team as youngsters. How many average games could Rossiter have before our next Stevie G was pilloried by his own fans and suddenly became our next Jay Spearing?

NRed

{Ed001's Note - so you start off by being an arse, then expect me to respond to your questions? Take your head out of your arse, I was giving an opinion too, I didn't delete yours did I? Then people wonder why we have no patience with you, when we get knobbish posts like this! Next time I won't waste my time on you.

That is another of those ridiculous assertions that is used to suggest a youth player was never good enough anyway, when it makes absolutely no sense. So a player not getting a chance at the moment he needs it to break into the game doesn't make it, what of it? That is just pointing out that they are failing to get the chances, it doesn't prove they aren't good enough, just that they never got the chance to show it.

Next you will be telling me that all those kids that didn't make it in the game didn't make it because they are not good enough. What about those cast aside because they are not big and strong enough? Is that a sign that the coaches knew their stuff because they never made it by another route? Or is it just possible that they missed their opportunity because the coach was crap at his job and just wanted the players best suited to winning now, rather than those needing development?

As for the abuse they take, how is it any different from what the foreign buys have to go through? Have you ever thought that just maybe it might help them build character to go through it? Maybe even make a stronger player who can take the abuse and lead the team to glory? Might toughen them up a bit and appreciate what they have when they make it even.

What is the alternative? Never giving them a game just in case it goes wrong? May as well just all give up and go home then! After all we might lose the next game, so let's just not bother playing it just in case. You have to take chances to progress or you just stagnate, like the English youth academy system is doing, except at clubs like Southampton who push their products into the team.}
