Not to sound too much like Kevin Keegan but I'd love it, just love it if for once Brendan was allowed to come out and say exactly what he thinks about Sterling and his tool of an agent and the way they have behaved - none of this "we wish him well/hope he continues to develop/might see him return one day." Tell it like it is - he's a greedy money chasing idiot who will end up sat on the bench and squandering what little talent he has due to listening to absolute idiots around him.

Why would he sit on the bench? He's good enough to be a regular starter for City.

There is a risk though with such a statement as it can hit you back in the face when a year from now there are photos of Sterling celebrating with his new friends a big trophy at the end of the season after he scored 7-8 goals and gave the same number of assists throughout the campaign and LFC did not win anything.

Don't take it so personally man!

BR should not be allowed to say anything in the media until thoroughly coached. As for Sterling and his agent, there's nothing more to be said because frankly, the boy has made his bed hence, should lie in it.

Well people. A large number of us clamoured for the marquee signing that we envisage we needed. Not content with a complete squad overhaul and strengthening generally where needed, this marquee business would not go away.

I think we can all agree that the impending arrival of Mario is a signal of intent. Yes it's a gamble but if it pays off then it will pay off big style. I am on the fence with this one. There is no doubt he knows where the net is but can he be a team player? I say I'm on the fence simply because I am undecided. Can BR and the Anfield staff succeed where others have failed? BR must see something in him, something he can mould and for 16 million he's not that expensive a gamble if you compare to the Falcao's and Lavezzi's - neither of whom have scored a single goal in the Premier League. So let's all keep the faith and wait and see what develops.

I can't believe that Brendan has splashed out good money on Emre Can or Chan or whatever his name is. I got him in a pack on Fifa 13 and he is only a silver. Last night, he missed a tackle for me which led to them scoring a goal - what the hell was Brendan thinking? He's clearly going to be a flop in the Premier League after such a poor showing. Yes it is a video game and yes I was controlling him, but surely Can has to take most of the blame. Come on Brendan - have a word.

BTW - that was sarcasm.

Realistically, I personally am very excited about the signings so far. Brendan is going about his business swiftly and surely and long may it continue. In Brendan I definitely trust.

Well yesterday made it clear that we can cope without Suarez OR Countinho, but not without both of them. We had no-one with the guile or skill to go past a man or pick out a sublime little pass into Sturridge - he was like a fish out of water yesterday. Gerrard can do the long stuff but when he is playing in the deeper role he cannot get the little dinks through. As Brendan said at least Suarez is back on Wednesday so we may see some improvement - but we need to be wary of a backlash after their loss at our place and their spanking today. In Brendan We Trust.

I do really hope that the conversation between Suarez's agent and BR ended with BR saying "Tell that ungrateful whining little $h!t to get his ar$e to pre-season training, or else!" Instead of publicising his betrayal on his native radio station, he should be dragged back kicking and screaming if necessary, and if he wants to go he should ASK to leave - I realise this will cost him a golden handshake, but the only "shake" he deserves is by the throat by players such as Stevie G, Carra, Hamman, Fowler and many more before them (and hopefully after, too) - players who knew what the shirt and the fans meant, and appreciated that fact. I am hoping for a quick resolution to this, so we can rid ourselves of this little irritant - that said, if he stays I will revert to my traditional loyal way and support him through thick and thin - and goodness knows he has driven us to both extremes with his antics. In BR we trust.

Weren't we linked with Caulker wren he was at Swansea a few seasons ago? I was quite surprised by this but more surprised by his age - he seems to have been around for quite some time. That experience will be invaluable because it seems that generally he'll be alongside someone with little experience with all the injuries we have. A low risk/ high gain signing imo. In Jurgën We Trust.

{Ed002's Note - Swansea was a loan - it was Cardiff Spurs sold him to.}

I think too many people are blindly following what the so-called expert pundits say and think all Chelski have to do is turn up and they'll win the league - maybe even the Chelski players are guilty of thinking this too before yesterday! I'm not going to be as bold as O G to predict the end of an empire after one result, but I wouldn't be amazed if someone other than Maureen collects the trophy at the end of the season - so why not Brendan??? I like the signings so let's see how today goes and we'll have more of an idea how we are going to fare. YNWA JFT96

Are you REALLY this negative before a ball has been kicked? This is the time for support and optimism - goodness knows there's plenty on here that get suicidal after one loss. Let the players AND THE MANAGER do what they can and support them throughout.

i'm not sure that brendan abandoned any principles last season - we were hampered by poor transfers that didn't fill the gap that suarez left and that sturridge couldn't plug it due to being made of glass. i think brendan deserves this chance that the owners are giving him, especially as the transfer policy is their doing, but it is clearly last chance saloon. i hope he comes good - this isn't blindly following, just support for our manager. ynwa.
