U just did?

2.) 27 Jul 2015 08:29:08
But if you start off by saying you never do it, it gives you more credibility ;)

Joe Allen is a good squad player; stop blaming all of our woes on him. He's not a world beater, but he is on small wages and he puts in 100% and has generally been happy with a smaller role in the first team. He can do a job, so stop whining.

Although I want Allen to come good, I couldn't disagree any more with TJRed's justification of keeping him.

"Small wages and puts in 100%", is no reason to keep a player. If you 5 of those players on small wages but put in 100%, you then have 5 inadequate players with a lot of money going out and still not enough quality on the pitch.

RR I get your point and it makes some sense, but we can't have superstars on our team at the wages of Joe Allen. We sign all superstars then
A. Someone has to sit out and will get mad
B. We go bankrupt (although I'm not sure we aren't headed there again).

What's the alternative? Getting squad players that don't demand playing week in/week out but can fill in and do a job if needed. IE Toure, Allen. Now I'd like to see Allen moved on in light of Rossiter should be getting what little time Allen gets, as I think they're about on an equal level right now, and if someone is younger and equally as good as you are, they should play in my book.

That being said, if we sell Joe Allen, that doesn't mean we are winning the league this year. I remember last season he honestly bossed the midfield a couple games, and made Toure for City look lost.

That's the thing TJ, A couple of games. Allen has had a chance to prove himself and I even said the other week that with Gerrard gone I feel he could step up and be more confident in dictating the game in midfield. Yet watching him in preseason, he's been no different than before.

I keep saying and will continue to keep saying we need a leader in our midfield. Someone who passes, wants it back, someone who always makes them self an option for the pass, someone who takes the game by the scruff and controls the pace of the game.

It's a real shame considering going into the oh so near Chelsea game last season most people including me felt Rodgers was going to bring back the good days, after this season it's clear he has lost the dressing room, he has to go. my main concern is not who comes in but we gain stability and professionalism , we must look like a professional club again, for too long we are overpaying on players every time we look at a player every Tom dick and harry knows about it , info is being leaked on things about training spats contracts agents etc. ,
Fellow reds I leave you with this after today's game it can only get better

Hi eds and fellow reds I rarely post but love this site even with the repetitive posts, come on fans calm down calm down sorry had to do that lol, I would ask you to cast your minds back to when Torres left I for one had a lump in my throat I was gutted, when Suarez was brought in I have to say I did not know anything about him but it worked out just fine I am not even that up on some of our signings this year but I trust the scouts owners and manager to get it right, it is wrong to bang on about falcoa, pedro ballotelli etc. , we cannot compete with man city, Madrid etc and the truth is in general footballers have egos the size of the sun especially the hyped up ones who feel with their price tag deserve the world in wages, the footballers we want are ones with hunger to prove themselves to be the best in the game because talent is only a small percentage of what makes a great football player , we won't always get it right but marquee players are not required and trust our system over and out

I never wanted Erikson at lfc or willian or lamela as are all expensive risks, but the dig on twitter from Daniel levy toward lfc saying thanks to our scouting department for making this possible. let's hope spurs get what they deserve 7 th place .Also let's sign sahko, llori and Turan, top 4 here we come Ynwa

Watch arda turan on ss4 he is an amazing player, in my opinion better than willian, works hard for the team, suited for prem league, loves lfc what are we waiting for! Also I am so glad we have stopped overpaying for players if they don't come for what we value them, no big deal, at least we will not be seen as the easy touches we have been roll on villa.

If you have no money to strengthen then I suppose Jurgen is doing the right thing in backing his boys to bounce back
after all it sounds like he has no choice
I agree gapko deal should have been a midfielder instead, although it sounds like it was quickly done to avoid our rivals snapping him up although with no engine in the midfield it all falls apart up front and in defence anyway.
