Just another thing I noticed when watching the derby and by no means am I alluding to a 'conspiracy' or using this as an excuse as to why we lost, but more an observation: for one of everyone's goals from the corner, their defender was deliberately blocking VVD from reaching the ball which resulted in the goal, even the commentators/ analysis team mentioned it in a positive light.

Now, if I remember correctly, did VVD not have a goal ruled out for pretty much the exact same thing - team mate preventing a defender from reaching the ball / defending zone?

It just seems bizarre one week a rule is implemented and then the next it seems to go unpunished and on this case, lauded by commentators as smart play by the opposing team. Another frustrating thing is that none of these pundits or commentators pull it up and question why the rules are changing week in week out. No wonder there is no consistency if they are never held to account, just so frustrating.

I think you're referring to the Carling Cup final goal where VVD's goal was ruled out because Endo was in an offside position and impeded a defender from getting back. That's a different situation than the one you're referring to though since there's no offsides from corners.

To clarify myself, I don't think VVD's goal then should have been ruled out then since I don't think Endo was interfering with the play. But if VVD was impeded from coming for a ball from a corner, then I think he should have been stronger. He's a big guy and is supposedly quite strong. Unless he was fouled, then I don't see much issue with that kind of play.

Well iirc the issue is Endo, the player who blocked off an opponent for VVD's disallowed goal, was offside not that he blocked someone off.

So I suppose it's a case of were any Everton players offside from frees whilst doing that. I genuinely don't remember.

Stui, I saw that as well. On the second goal, VVD was getting blocked by Tarkowski. On another chance in the first half, Tarkowski blatantly shoves VVD in the back to prevent him from challenging Branthwaite who won the header. It happened many times in the game. It is what bit is.

VVD was less of a fart before Pickford maimed him Ed025.

As for analysing corners - it’s like p-ing in the wind. There are probably a dozen offences for both teams at every corner. If you get penalised, you’ve been unlucky. If you don’t get a decision, you’ve been unlucky. There’s no injustice because the laws are furiously transgressed every time.

{Ed025's Note - hes a big unit though Ron and should not really be bullied imo, if i was his size i would be the one doing the pushing mate and i certainly wouldn,t be acting like a big girls blouse.. :)

Everton targetted our best header of the ball. Forget that, Everton targetted our only header of the ball so one of their headers of the ball could get an attempt at goal.
That's good tactics.

Liverpool were awful against Everton. The blues fully deserved to win as bad as it is. We need to move on. VVD like most of them were hopeless in that game.

Ed25, you won the title sorry, the game and hats off to your team. Just don't want to ever ever you moan about other teams' players flopping to the ground whenever the oppo. breathes on them, talking down to the rest of us about how the game has gone soft cos sevral of your players looked like little farts flopping to the ground whenever an LFC player walked past them. Just saying.

{Ed025's Note - unfortunately going down very easily is all part of the game now it seems Oli, i dont like it myself i must say but every team is guilty of it mate...even the honest as the day is long Liverpool.. :)
