With the club going into a huge summer where we will need a manger, director of football, entire new background team, that could even include as far back as nutritionist, strength and conditioning coach, this has now become somewhat of a hardware reset. Times have been great under Jürgen and we’ve all loved every single moment of it. But this is going to decimate the footballing structure of the club - my question is, has the club surrendered too much power to Jürgen? Yes we have a young squad but when a new manager comes in he has all of the above to sort and Trent, VVD and Mo are out of contract 12 months from his 1st day.

Let’s see how deep it is a summer scurrying for staff, trying to renew contracts, get new players, and try to enforce new tactics and a new managers ideas on a team Klopp built.
I’m excited for what the future holds but at the same time very very worried as we have the greatest man currently this club could ever want.

"But this is going to decimate the footballing structure of the club".

OP, you're overthinking this WAY too much. Let's take it one day at a time and allow the process to play out. The club have known he was leaving since Nov. Pretty sure the wheels have been turning so again, let's enjoy this great man for the next 4 months and go from there.

I wonder if Klopp will “recommend” his preferred successor?

We’ve had a mare. All we had to do was look after our greatest asset and we ran him into the ground last season.

I thought he’d have walked away at the time and expressed that a lot, but he held on like the warrior he is but it finally got the better of him.

I think the quality we had a few years ago we needed someone like Klopp to hold the reins. The quality we have now, you could get a new manager, a slightly different system, it is still going to be a great squad. Best goalie in the world, VVD still has a good few years, the new midfield is another level, Jota / Diaz / Nunez can create and score goals in any setup. Trent is world class (I know a lot of us hate this term but I really think he is) . Add to that the youngsters coming through, the structure and infra for youth; it is the most comfortable we could feel about Jurgen leaving throughout his tenure. I struggle to think of a better squad except Real Madrid. Even city I feel at this moment would struggle more without Pep than Liverpool would.

Of course we won’t get another Jurgen - it is not possible. But the quality he is leaving behind is a delight for any manager coming in. Hopefully this also makes this a very exciting job for Alonso or Zidane to come in.

@redbohs - they've known Klopps leaving since November, they've known the dof is leaving for longer, in fact, it was their decision not to give him a long contract.

I'm sure the plans are already well underway.

Mlg.

Why do we have to wait until summer? I’m pretty sure the club management will be assessing and potentially acting way before the summer.
