If someone had said at the start of the season ‘will you take second place in the league at Christmas, one point behind the leaders’, I wouldn’t have said no. It’s all on for the second half of the season - it should me fun.

In the meantime, a sincere wish for all Redmen everywhere to have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

Merry Christmas WDW3 - with the rebuild of the midfield I would have taken 1 point behind the leaders, this team will get better and looking forward to seeing it, hopefully League Cup and Europa League wins plus a top 3 finish is the minimum I am looking forward too.

Boys it’s still in our hands.

You can’t complain if that’s still the case at Christmas!

Same to you wdw3. We've done v well this season, better than I thought we would've done. V impressed with us defensively of late, much improved. Forwards form of late is a mystery, can't believe all so out of form at same time. You would think they should get back to form, we've seen what they can do previously.
We've been unlucky with a couple of horrendous reffing decisions in big games and also couple of bad injuries of late. Ultimately as far as a league title goes I think we couple of top players short but we will see.

We have drawn 6 games this season. And that has absolutely no relevance to any kind of rebuild.

All comparable is not Habibi, we’ve only lost once, Arsenal have drawn four times and lost twice, City have lost three times and draw four. we are second 1 point behind top way ahead of schedule of what we all thought! Enjoy the ride.

Good to see a positive post on here, if you read half the posts on here and god forbid the live forum during a match you would think our support base are all a bunch of entitled bed wetters, spoiled by recent success. We are much improved on last year and have a brand new midfield which is still bedding in. The strikers will click again and we'll be fine, Klopp looks reinvigorated. Merry Christmas all.

You have answered your own question. Our problem whenever we lost the league to whoever the heck was the number of DRAWS. It’s not a ride rather a symptom of failing to take your chances.
UTD are rubbish, purest form of rubbish. We should have smashed them to pieces. We have no threat form the left and I see people moaning on how Salah is the problem ?????????.

To be honest I don’t look at draws but more where we stand at the League table at any given time. We are second, 1 point behind Arsenal and in there fighting with the best teams in the League.

My main concern is both LBs injured, Matip long term injury, Salah away soon, Nunez unable to find the back of the net, Endo away and McAlistair injured and Diaz loss of form and possi Injured.

So if we happen to be second and within a few points of Arsenal after addressing some of the above issues then I’ll be more than happy.

@irish I fully expect a little dip in the market for a defender I think inacio could be the 1 now .
And possibly a forward it might go against the grain here but I think Diaz would be the 1st on the list of forwards I’d let leave me . Too inconsistent for a top team imo . He’s had a blighted 12 months il grant him that but for me I think he’s the most replaceable.

Nunez is the forward I'd be pushing towards the exit. We've seen Diaz performing at a near elite level but we've seen nothing from Nunez.

Random Red. The thing for me is that I feel Nunez could get a couple of goals then the floodgates would open for him. He has all the attributes you want for a forward, pace, power, heading ability and a willingness to work hard for the team but he has missed some horrendous chances ?.
At the moment he’s getting away with it because Salah is scoring and the team is winning. January might be a different story with Salah away tho. Can Darwin step up? I honestly don’t know ?‍♂️.

WDW3, Happy Holidays first off to you and yours. Now to your point, I would have taken it in August without question. The fact that we are here despite all our flaws and not firing on all cylinders, is a testament to the heart, desire and mentality of this team and the coaching staff.

We have a lot to improve on individually and collectively and having our top players like Robbo, Macca, Jota tec. back with definitely help things moving forward. Let's just keep working and keep grinding. Once again Happy Holidays to ALL! YNWA!

Did you say Jota a top player @Oli ???. The same Jota who used to get the VIP treatment on this page. The same Jota whose link up play is so poor everyone wanted him gone in the summer.

Hoping Santa is going to be bringing us one or two additions in January.

Those that think draws are irrelevant should look back at previous campaigns….

Ironically Drogie another draw (against Spurs, clearly robbed) and we would be top ?.

Harry, you are right. I just read the post and I admit it was a typo. And I have NEVER said I wanted him gone either. Anything else?

@Habibi, I think it’s fair to say drawing 6 games by Christmas isn’t as bad as drawing 6 games over the same period for the past four or five years (at least) .

If you look at this season’s ‘wildcards’ like Villa, Brighton, West Ham, Newcastle and Tottenham, they are taking points off everyone and the points tally for the top 5 or 6 has ‘flattened out’ this year.

Perhaps a better focus would be on how it’s a much more open (perhaps exciting) race than in previous years and try to enjoy it for what it is?
