Watched the game last night, haven't seen us for play for a while. I was really impressed with Fabinho. He goes under the radar a bit but he reads the game so well. It also seemed like we didn't go out at 100mph from the start and were more controlled in our play building more and more pressure towards the end of each half.

When it’s Thiago and Jones with Fabinho in a midfield 3, you bet it won’t be 100mph lol.
But what you lose in intensity, you gain in other ways I suppose.
Though Jones was slightly disappointing last night tbh.

Watching Thiago live last night was an experience. For a player that supposedly cannot tackle he doesn’t half take the ball off the opposition a lot.
My son has always told me he’s not very good (his words were he’s crap) but even he came around last night and awarded him mom after seeing him live.
I watched him, Bobby, Fab and Tsmiskas in a passing drill about 45 mins before kick off and it looked like the aim was to only have 1 touch and to pass it to someone as hard as you could and let them deal with it. They were literally in an area where they were 5-8 yards apart and I’ve never witnessed ball control and technique like I did with them 4. I’d honestly say there was around 50 passes and flicks before there was a miss control. For me I’d expect it of Bobby and Thiago but I was quite taken back by Fabs and Tsmiskas skill levels during it.
And then to top it off young Elliot came over next to the touchline and took a 40 yard ball under control with his foot which flicked straight up onto his head and literally balanced it there like he was a seal. And to prove it wasn’t luck he did the exact same thing again after receiving his next 30-40 yard pass.

Oli spot on. In fairness it’s hard to be a workman like midfield when you have 60-80 possession in a game. It’s hard to press the opposition if they haven’t got the ball. Hence why it always seems a struggle when we have a midfield of Hendo, Fab and Milner.
Elliot and Jones really give us options in there and Thiago last night was immense. His ability to move the ball and get out of tight areas creates so much more space for the likes of Diaz, Jota, Mo, Trent and Robbo to exploit.
I for one am also looking forward to seeing us potentially use 4 of the forwards a lot more. We did start to do it but Bobby had that extended injury and by time he was back Mane and Salah were away at the Afcon.

Redsteve, you need to read the posts to see that several of them are indeed cry baby-type posts. Make no mistake about it, I am as frustrated as the next guy BUT the thing is everyone can moan and moan and throw their toys out of the pram after losing two games in TWENTY. That is low hanging fruit nonsense I have no interest in cos it solves nothing and that is I think, the OP's and the Ed's point. Had we beaten Spurs and WBA, we would have won or sealed NOTHING regarding a trophy or CL. There would still be one more game left to play in the FA Cup and 14 in the PL, fact.
It is those who come on here and declare with unfounded impetus that after each defeat (all five of them in 30 plus games this season in all comps. Oh, the Horror! ), we will not make the top 4 or we would win nothing with Klopp. Those are the cry babies who are ONLY interested in just being right, and not in having anything of substance to add to the debate.

Ron, I totally agree. Mac Allister is definitely a statement signing. I'm really excited to see him this season. I think we've done well with him and Szoboszlai, they can really see a pass. Salah will be drooling at the prospect.

Good to see a positive post on here, if you read half the posts on here and god forbid the live forum during a match you would think our support base are all a bunch of entitled bed wetters, spoiled by recent success. We are much improved on last year and have a brand new midfield which is still bedding in. The strikers will click again and we'll be fine, Klopp looks reinvigorated. Merry Christmas all.

I agree Burley. He is terrible when there is any sort of aerial challenge to him. And why does he always do a second run up on goal kicks. he time wastes even when we're losing. In fairness Moreno, Taa, Matip, and all of our midfield had a mare. Gini and AOC were invisible for most of the first half.
