For Ed1 and fellow fans.

Would you be happy with Cheick Doucouré for a reported £50-£60 million in addition to paying Andre Trindade's £34 million release clause to bring him in now?

I would be more than happy with whose two and a LCB. Been researching more on Andre and everyone in Brazil seem to think he is the best of his generation, which is a big claim. Whether they're right or not and he fulfils his potential is another matter.

Not sure which Liverpool outlet did an interview (YouTube) with someone in Brazil who is close to Andre and those around him. But he was echoing what a lot of people are saying about him in terms of his ability and potential. Interestingly he said Andre wants to come and if we went in for him this summer he would jump at the chance. We are his first choice apparently but with how things have gone so far - until the player is in a Liverpool top I will take that with a pinch of salt.

Yes, Doucoure can put himself about on the field which is what we need.
Another more defensive midfielder and centre half would be great but I don't know who that should be.

It would be great if we can secure Doucoure.

I personally still can let got of the chance of getting Gravenberch for a reasonable fee (£25m or so if reports are to be believed) . This is a guy who looked a world beater at Ajax, but who's career has stalled at Bayern, but he's only 21. He's not unlike Pipco who didn't look all that at Milan, but was able to grow and flourish with us.

Andre looks great too, but I'd rather we do a deal now for January (when AFAIK his price will be a bit lower as Fluminese can keep him for the rest of their season) and give him half a season to adapt before Thiago leaves (or sell Thiago in Jan if there is an offer that suits him) .

Need to get a LCB done too.

I was hoping for Fofana as both Eds are fans and he is a fair bit cheaper than Doucoure, but I guess PL experience is crucial if we don't want another 'transitional season'.

Ed1, Same here. Florentino and Andre would be even better but I like Doucouré.

Regarding a LCB. Do you know why we haven’t activated Inacio’s release clause? I could be wrong but if we pay the reported £39 million then we don’t have to negotiate with Sporting. Same way we activated Szoboszlai’s release clause, which meant RB had no say in the matter. Or am I missing something?

We need a LCB and there is one staring us in the face. Would be good to hear your take on it.

Ed01 if you are interested, I just read a great article on the Liverpool city website (not sure I can post the link on here) about Doucoure and how he rose through the JMG academy (the one run by Jean Marc Gillou which produced, the Toure bros, Gervinho, Bissouma etc. ) in his native country Mali and it's director gave a full account of Doucoure and his attributes and qualities as a player.

He essentially said that Doucore's talent are not defensive alone. In fact, he says that he is very creative in possession and is always looking to start attacks after winning the ball and that is how RC Lens signed him before he then moved to Palace and is now hopefully, on the verge of joining us. If waht the academy director says about him is true then, we have a gem on our hands should we get him and by all accounts, he is super keen to play for us.

@Zeddicus - Waiting until January for Andre is a good shout because his price will be lower. I’m seriously worried if we do that other teams can come in for him. Would rather pay the release clause and bring him in now.

@Faithinworks - Baj is a top talent and only 18 years old. Even if we sign two DM’s he will still get plenty of game time due to injuries, suspension, domestic cup matches and Europa.

Alonso1786 like you've I've read good things about Andre Trindade but I think one of the issues is that his club will not sell him while they are still in their version of the Champions league so won't be available until their season finishes in Jan (I think) and if that is the case then Jorge needs to get that deal agreed now so we don't have any more issues then. Would like to think we'd get Doucouré plus another DMF but wouldn't be surprised of we played stefan bajcetic until the new year. Also we agree we definitely need a LCB. Here's hoping it gets done sooner rather than later.

Sorry Ed002, it may be my misunderstanding on Andre. I thought you had said that his price will be higher now given the fact they are midway through their season, I probably read it somewhere else.

I am aware that his deal is complicated by an element of 3rd party ownership which would need resolving.

Alonso, I meant to say to agree a deal for him now to come in Jan - hopefully will suit the 2 clubs (albeit maybe not the 3rd party! ) and thereby make the deal easier to agree.

{Ed002's Note - The difficulties are that the transfer window in Brazil has closed, Fluminense are still in midseason and doing well, and they only own 80% of his rights. Sporting have suggested they might yet try and strike a deal. Liverpool are putting their efforts elsewhere.}

Regarding Andre, let’s sort the immediate things such as the lad from CP, sign the lad from Sporting if possible, then organise Andre for Jan.

It’s the way I see the priority imo.
As Ed’s have stated it appears Andre has been on the radar for 2 years, so we should know all we need to.

Ed’s, maybe Dacoure was not above CM of now Chelsea, due to Afcon? Maybe.

Therefore Andre would cost that element to Fluminese plus whatever we have to pay for the remaining 20%?

Depends if the 4/ 5 of Andre could be selected by the purchasing club?

We could do without his arms as he could just do like Dom and not use them to pull down opponents and therefore avoid red cards.

Also, his 'auld fella' we could leave behind as sex before games is meant to be detrimental to on field performance.

I still think we could get an effective DM from 4/ 5 of Andre.

To clarify, I meant Ignacio and Decoure if it’s viable, I may have got his (Ignacio) club wrong in my above statement, the belief is reading other posts that Ignacio has buy out clause of 40 mill, I assume that’s Euros?

Then go for Andre for Jan, discussions could take place after securing the above 2, that way LFC could ask Fluminese to resolve the 20% to organise the sale to us, providing that is the way we go.
