Magico. Same here mate. I would also like to know what our scouts actually do. Would also like to know what Jorg Schmadtke actually does. We moved at lightning speed with the Caicedo bid, which notably Billy Hogan handled. Then once it was clear he was never going to sign we moved at a lightening pace with a new bid for Lavia. Where was this urgency throughout the window? £1-2 million increment bids with a week between bids was a silly tactic that didn’t pay of. All it did was allow time for Chelsea to bid and now instead of the £50 million figure we are at £60 million. But to be honest I couldn’t care less about the money but as a negotiator Schmadtke is proving to be incompetent.
Micky of Spurs would have been perfect in a back 3 that pushed up the field yet we watched him sign for another team. Inacio has a release clause so not sure why we haven’t moved for him. signing a LCB is as important as signing a DM. Robbo simply cannot play in a back 3. If we continue with that we will leak goals week in week out and we cannot afford to miss out on Champions League two years in a row. We do that and expect some of our big players to orchestrate moves away from the club.
{Ed001's Note - is it Schmadtke that is the issue or is he having to get everything signed off before he can do anything? He is only really here on a short term consultancy deal in essence, he won't have been allowed the power to make decisions that can impact the long term future of the club. That is why it moved so quickly when Hogan took charge I would say. I would question why he wasn't involved from the beginning in the most important period for the club? The blame is his to take imo.}

{Ed001's Note - if you are going to be competitive, the top man needs to be hands-on at the right times. Transfer windows are a key time and he should be right there and making sure everything moves quickly and smoothly. His head should be on the chopping block right now over this mess. The stupidity of dropping a transfer for a player keen to join to make a bid of over double for another player is on his head. There is no wonder Lavia is now not so keen on us. He must feel like a knob for hanging out for us and trying to push the move to us through only for us to just drop him like that. For me Hogan has to be sacked for this. He messed that all up badly and it is all on him for not being involved more previously in the window when we needed him.}

Ed1. That’s what I was saying. It moved so quickly when Billy Hogan got involved. As we speak Lavia to Chelsea has been confirmed despite putting in a bid. Fair play to Chelsea, their owners are serious about winning and will do what’s necessary to try and achieve that. Tchouaméni and Valverde are non starters because Madrid won’t sell and both wouldn’t move to us. Personally I would bring in Palhinha and Florentino. Both not just one. And I would also go in and pay the release clause for Inacio. Move on Thiago and if needs be move on Jota to raise funds. This season without quality reinforcements will be tough to make top 5 and two seasons out of Champions League would be disastrous.

Honestly though, we are acting like Lavia and Caicedo are the last two DMs on planet earth and we'll finish 10th without them. Who actually knew anything about Lavia until 6 weeks ago. We were never supposed to be in for Caicedo. that was always Chelsea's deal. We will sign someone for the position and it will be fine. there's lots of good players about who will want to move to Liverpool.
